Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah Sides. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I actually discovered permanent jewelry by accident. At the time, I was leading design and development at a jewelry brand when I came across a group of women in LA having bangles blow torched onto their wrists. I wasn’t looking to start something new, but the concept completely captivated me. There was something so emotional, so lasting about the idea of jewelry you never take off — it felt more like a bond than an accessory.
That spark of curiosity quickly became a full-blown passion. I couldn’t stop thinking about how to build an entire brand around that experience — one that celebrated connection, permanence, and personalization. The first Loveweld event was in my garage, welding forever bracelets on a few of my closest friends. That night really shaped the heart of the brand: intimate, meaningful moments shared between people.
Within six months, we opened our first studio in Austin. Now, nearly five years later, Loveweld has grown far beyond what I imagined, but the core has stayed the same — creating lasting memories through jewelry that means something.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My background is in jewelry design and product development, and I’ve had the honor of working with master craftsmen from all over the world. That experience not only deepened my appreciation for quality and artistry, but also taught me something important about myself — that I have an eye for recognizing, refining, and celebrating talent in others.
That’s really at the heart of what I do now. Loveweld isn’t just a brand I built — it’s a platform where incredibly talented people come together to create something meaningful. What sets us apart is the way we blend craftsmanship with emotional connection. We’re not just making jewelry; we’re creating shared experiences and lasting memories.
What I’m most proud of is how collaborative it all is. Loveweld is the result of so many people bringing their gifts to the table. It’s a brand built on talent, intention, and a lot of heart — and I think that comes through in every piece we create.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I think the challenges are what shaped us. Between launching during COVID, navigating major economic shifts, and being entirely self-funded, there were plenty of moments where the outcome felt uncertain.
In 2023, several of our retail partners went bankrupt, which forced us to make a major pivot — moving from kiosks to standalone storefronts. At the time, it felt risky, but in hindsight, it was one of the best decisions we’ve made. That shift gave us full control over the customer experience and ultimately helped us build a stronger, more independent brand.
These kinds of challenges have really refined us. They pushed us to think more intentionally, to operate with heart, and to stay rooted in our purpose. Some of our most iconic moments — like opening our flagship studio in Austin — were born out of the toughest seasons. Loveweld is better because of those growing pains.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust the process. Building something at this scale is incredibly hard — and as someone who comes with big vision, it’s easy to get caught up in chasing the next milestone. But over time, I’ve learned that the journey itself is just as meaningful as the destination.
Through Loveweld, I’ve had the privilege of seeing so many of those early visions come to life — and while that’s deeply rewarding, the moments I cherish most are the ones in between: the growth, the challenges, the creativity that happens when things don’t go exactly as planned. Learning to stay present, celebrate progress, and enjoy the process has been everything.
