We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Schultz . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Dark Web Mystery Box was a special film to make for me and my husband. Dark Web is dubbed by letterboxd the first movie made in isolation during the height of Covid. My husband, actor/filmmaker/musician/videographer Josh Schultz, and myself, along with other YouTubers in different parts of the country, filmed our scenes in our homes and sent them to Tony Newton, a director in the UK. He wanted to partner with Josh, hence Dark Web became a Mort House Films production. Mort House Films is the brain child of Josh and myself, chock full of independent horror films. Dark Web is the oldest child of Mort House Films, which makes it very special to us.
Sarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am from Dallas, Texas, and grew up most of my young life in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I attended Excel Models and Talent in my early 20’s, learning commercial work and modeling. I moved to Flagstaff ,Arizona in 2006, and made my way to living in Scottsdale. I finished my schooling at John Casablanca’s modeling agency. I am an independent artist. My husband and I own Mort House Films, and my brand is Jessica Stabbit. I became heavily involved in the horror scene circa 2016, participating in the Miss Scarizona pageant at the amazing horror convention, Mad Monster Arizona. I didn’t win, however, I did in 2017. My husband and I have been together since 2013, and got married by the legendary Sid Haig in full Captain Spaulding character and makeup, done by Get Dead Crew. Such a magical time. We have worked with actors such as Scout Taylor Compton and Alan Thicke. You can also check out Gravedirt Clothing, our online website that caters to everything for everyone. True crime lovers to classic slashers.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Hashtags matter. My husband worked for Facebook, and now works for a huge company doing their advertising and video production. He helped me grow my audience by following the best in the horror genre because that is my main target, as well as horror fans. Horror fans are hardcore and super passionate, which I can relate to.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My children. Showing them a good example of reaching for the stars and your goals and dreams are important to live your life to the fullest. I also want to live my life to the best of my ability. I never thought I would ever be an actor or model. I could die happy today knowing I made a name for myself.
