We recently connected with Sarah Puckett and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sarah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents always instilled a sense of adventure in me, particularly a love of being outside. We didn’t take big extravagant vacations, but my family always made sure to spend time at the beach in the Outer Banks or camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where we lived. I think I get my wanderlust from my dad. He was always the one to plan trips or come up with spontaneous activities. He would sometimes decide with a day’s notice that we were going to the beach. I like to be more organized though, which I think I get from my mom.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Sarah Puckett, and I’ve been traveling and writing about my journeys since 2013. When I’m not traveling, I’m planning my next trip. My adventures have led me to over 70 countries on all 7 continents, and I’ve organized them each myself.
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia in the United States, and have called Madison, Wisconsin my home for most of the last decade between multiple year-long international trips. In 2022, I moved to Colorado with my husband Tim.
Together, Tim and I are the adventure couple behind the content creation brand Organized Adventurer (organizedadventurer.com) and Colorado bucket-list travel blog That Colorado Couple (thatcoloradocouple.com). We aim to inspire people to pursue outdoorsy travel around the world, and our blogs focus on road trips and national parks in the US and abroad.
Most recently, we’ve been road tripping for an extended period of time in the US southwest, ticking off bucket list experiences like backpacking to Havasupai and hiking the Wave.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had taken influencer and content creation coaching services and courses more seriously earlier on in our blogging and influencing journey. It wasn’t until I actually invested in an online course and coach that we began to see returns on our investment in our business. The lesson here is to not be afraid to invest in yourself! You can save yourself so much time and money in the long run by taking the course or hiring the coach than if you try to learn it all on your own!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
We love helping people make their adventure travel dreams a reality, so the best feeling is when someone writes us on Instagram or emails us to tell us about an experience they had because of our content. Knowing we can make a difference in creating meaningful experiences and memories for others is the best feeling!
