We were lucky to catch up with Sarah McVickar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I made jewelry when I was younger-bless my mom’s heart, she would help me set up tables at craft fairs and farmer’s markets to sell my jewelry. A few years ago I felt that my creativity was stifled in corporate America. I wanted to make beautiful jewelry and pair it with encouraging, intuitive notes to my clients. This business idea spoke to my love for beauty, creativity, and intuition.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I make jewelry that comes with a message. I feel that pieces we wear everyday become a consistent part of our lives. I want my jewelry to be meaningful to its wearer.
The desire to make jewelry came from my inner child kicking and screaming, being bored in an office. I love using my creativity to its fullest potential. It makes me smile to see my jewelry as an added, artistic accent to someone’s outfit. Personal style is fun, and can be meaningful too.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have friends and clients who wear my jewelry out in the real world, and they attract attention from others. My most common source of clients comes from seeing my work in the real world, and they in turn ask for personalized pieces. It has been so much fun!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
One thing I do to foster brand loyalty is offer to fix any pieces of my jewelry that have broken. My pieces are made for real life: dancing, working out, sweating, swimming, running. No piece of jewelry is indestructible (though my pieces are close). On the extremely rare case that a piece breaks, I am happy to fix it free of charge.
