Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Absolutely! , I say it is the best decision I ever made during the pandemic.
The greatest part of my journey , is getting to experience both sides of the spectrum. I actually still have a 9 to 5 working in a Dr. Office while balancing my lipgloss business/ creating natural hair content and I’ve also started dipping into new content as well!. I film on weekends and edit / post at least 24 hrs prior to when I post , I’ve posted content while on lunch . I feel that it’s building me to never forget where I came from or get comfortable. Always willing to help someone along my journey . Thoughts do run through my mind daily , trying to figure out how I can scale my brand to another level , or if I’ll be able to get myself in a position where I don’t have to have a job, doing what I love will be my job. It’s definitely not a walk in the park , but it is possible ! . I keep that mindset at all times .

My name is Sarah Marshall I’m from Palestine , Tx and I reside in Dallas , Tx . I’m 26 , Owner of my own cosmetics business “CandyCoatedCosmeticsllc” as well as a content creator for natural hair tips and more !. I sell a variety of lipgloss as well as lip scrubs I hand make . I help my supporters and more not only get their hands on lip products that are essential to their lips but also help them learn / take care of their natural hair . A lot of people struggle with caring for their hair especially if you grew up in the relaxer era and my job is the help you nurse your curls back to health and embrace your hair.
I believe my passion for help others be successful in any area desired is what sets me apart from others .
Though I haven’t been in business long, I can say I’m proud of the leap of faith taken to get this far , my willingness to not give up on my content and reaching milestones I always imagined, and receiving love from huge influencers in the industry !.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
First , I did a lot of research! , people take that piece of information lightly, honestly it’s how I was able to accomplish a lot of this I had no idea about when it came down to getting my business open to sell my products . The most important part is making sure you are protected, having an LLC “Limited Liability Company “ is needed before you do anything ! . Prices vary by state . Then i narrowed down where you plan to purchase your ingredients from price it, calculate and see where your budget will land . I did things a little as a time when I got paid which helped a lot ,
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social Media ! Yes , from instagram to facebook. I’m still new to TikTok , but I know it’s a great app and can really push you to new supports .
