We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Lea . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The greatest risk I’ve ever taken is putting every cent to my name into a business that I knew in my heart, the world needed. Going “all in” with all your money and all your faith, with no turning back, has been the greatest risk. However, taking that risk to build a brand that serves pets and their people at the core, with only the most loving and nurturing intention, has also been the greatest reward.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Animal Communicator, I’ve worked with some of the biggest celebs and with pets from the most dire situations; From the dog meat trade, testing labs, puppy mills, you name it. Through the years, I became the go-to for pets with a history. Animals with severe anxiety, trauma and PTSD. What I’m really good at is understanding the psychology and sentience in animals, just as it exists in humans,( except animals are ego-less, for the most part) and when you have that approach you know how to rewire trauma in animals, just the way you would a child. Whilst doing this work, I was seeing far too many pets on Xanax, Prozac and other anxiety numbing medication and whilst there is of course, a place for western medicine, the medication was doing nothing but freezing the animal in time and simply putting a band aid on the core of their anxiety. By doing this, you are ultimately setting both the animal and the parent up for failure… So I started implementing formulas to “lift the curtain of anxiety” instead of numb it, and equip the animal with enough strength the “face and overcome” their fear and ultimately rewire it. This is when I created the Heel Method, which is when Heel was born.
Heel is my Pet Wellness brand that is built to serve pets and their parents in the most sustainable, safe and successful way. It is an Adaptogenic Pet CBD brand with formulas to target the different parts of the body as a WHOLE.
My best seller, Peace of Mind, is an Ashwagandha infused, Full Spectrum hemp oil, designed for the emotional body. Targeting from inside out.
Creature Comfort, is designed to bring just that, COMFORT, from the core.
And Goodbye Aches, is my newest formula by client demand; The CBG roll on, that is a targeted pain relief. Specifically for those with arthritis, inflammation and injuries.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I created this brand with the knowing, that this is what animals needed but the brand has been sustained by the positive reception from pet parents all around the world. I’ve had people subscribed monthly for over two years, which speaks for its self and it’s incredibly humbling.
Whilst there is still so much growth yet to happen, I go to bed at night knowing that animals are also going to sleep more comfy, more peaceful, more alive, because of the leap of faith I took to start Heel.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
One of the keys to the success of my brand was having a personal brand already. @thesarahlea is my own page, where I have spent years building trust and online relationships with other animal loving, vegan, pet passionate people. There is an already converted trust in me, which took years to build and nurture, so when I suggest a product in line with these peoples interests, the trust already converts to sales. The sales are just a cherry on top of the wonderful relationships and trust I have created with others and it’s really just an honor for Me, to be able to really serve these people in the most nurturing and effective way I know how.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have had to face tons of criticism and judgement from people that I was not prepared for and honestly, I allowed myself to suffer a lot because of it. While my followers, clients and customers are all converted on the knowing that animals have the capacity to feel a wide range of emotions, surprisingly, there are a vast majority of people who do not believe it.
And because I am at the forefront of the Pet CBD and Pet anxiety Space, a person who openly talks about this subject, I am also at the forefront for peoples hatred.
Building a brand from scratch, by yourself, with nothing but faith, is already like walking a tightrope over the most treacherous mountain Range with no safety net, but walking that rope with peoples judgement and hope that I fail, made me not want to walk at all.
I have been approached in public so many times, by people who want to violently criticize me. I’ve heard things like “it is so ridiculous that you think animals have anxiety,” “everyone thinks you’re crazy for thinking you can rewire trauma in a dog” and “you sound so crazy, it’s like you’re from another planet.”
These statements set me back for a long time, all I ever wanted to do was serve and help others and it was almost like I was hated for wanting to do so.
But then I learnt, through a lot of suffering, that my job is NOT to convert anyone, my job is to serve the highest good of those that are already converted. When I realized that, everything changed.
