We recently connected with Sarah Kuchta and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Meet Kelsey, a determined PhD candidate and a loving mom. With just three weeks left to complete her dissertation, Kelsey faced an overwhelming challenge when her husband had to travel for work unexpectedly, leaving her to manage her intense academic workload while caring for her young child full-time. The stress and pressure seemed insurmountable, and she feared she wouldn’t be able to meet her deadline.
Desperate for a solution, Kelsey reached out to Nittany Nannies. Understanding the urgency of her situation, we quickly connected her to Sadia, one of our most reliable and trustworthy sitters. Sadia seamlessly stepped in to provide full-time care, creating a nurturing and engaging environment for Kelsey’s child. This allowed Kelsey to fully concentrate on her dissertation without distractions or worries.
With Sadia’s support, Kelsey experienced a remarkable transformation. Her productivity soared, and she made significant progress on her dissertation. Knowing her child was in safe and loving hands gave Kelsey a tremendous sense of relief and calm.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sarah and I am the founder and CEO of Nittany Nannies. We are a premium nanny and babysitting agency located in State College, PA! I am a mom of five who recognized a need for this service in our area.
Nittany Nannies connects qualified nannies with professional families in need of childcare. Our sitters and nannies go thought a rigorous interviews and application process.
We specialize in four services: on-demand sitting (date nights, occasional care), on-site sitting (hotels, airbnbs, and tailgates), summer/temporary nannies, and full-time nanny placements.
What sets NN apart from big name services is we are a local business. I am a mom in the community who is right there with you. Our service is more personalized and I am with the client and candidates every step of the way.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned early on the importance of clear communication and setting realistic expectations with both clients and nannies. It is essential to be transparent about the services offered, fees involved, and the process of finding a suitable match for both parties.
When I was just starting out I didn’t charge the first few clients an application fee to test the market and see if placements would be successful could be a learning experience. I thought that offering a trial period or waiving fees for initial clients could be a way to attract new clients, but a few people did burn me. I spent a lot of time on a few families who ended up finding their own care. It happens…but it was a good lesson.
Overall, I learned that maintaining open communication, setting clear expectations, and continuously evaluating and adjusting business practices based on feedback and experiences will help succeed in the long run.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
