Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah Hill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I have always enjoyed sharing easy recipes that can be enjoyed by all with most of them taking just around 30 minutes to make. As a nutritionist and even before then, I am a big proponent of developing recipes made with real, whole foods. I buy foods that are as close to their natural state as possible and it was only natural for my brand name to be “Real Food with Sarah”.
Sarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Sarah, a food blogger and food photographer based in NJ but I’m originally from Cape Cod, MA. I got my certification in sports nutrition and started documenting my workouts and what I was eating on Instagram. I soon realized what I really enjoyed was creating and sharing recipes with others so I switched my focus to just doing that and created my food blog. I grew my business by providing food and kitchen brands with recipes and photos/videos for their social channels and websites. While I continue to work with repeat and new clients, I am also focused on growing my website and creating a connection with my email newsletter subscribers. My biggest passion is cooking for others and providing readers with delicious recipes to make for their families.
If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
Yes, currently I have 4 revenue streams in my business. My main revenue source has been freelance recipe, development, photography and videography for brands. Followed by sponsored work for brands on Instagram and TikTok. I also receive affiliate income from linking to my favorite products on my website and by directing people to order groceries on Instacart. At the end of 2023, I finally began to monetize by blog by qualifying for an ad network.
All of this has been great and I am so grateful I have had multiple streams of income coming in to support the business and myself. In 2024, my goal is to create a digital product and add that as an additional revenue stream.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes! I love reading business or personal-progress books first thing in the morning while I sip on my coffee. I find it’s a great way to start the day and I try to read at least one chapter. I’m currently reading Show your Work by Austin Kleon.
