We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Harralson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.

Hi Sarah , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

This July, I released a song that I wrote with co-writer James Tristan Redding, “Stand Together”, which features 10 artists (including myself) from 10 different nations in 8 different languages. The song is about unity and peace in a divided world and I was so happy that all of these voices from around the world wanted to be a part of it. I produced the song and made it a humanitarian cause for people to donate to World Central Kitchen.

I think it’s very important for artists and everyone in general to give back. This was a great reminder that music does have meaning and impact, and in this case, the music was about togetherness.

Sarah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am originally from Knoxville, Tennessee and have been in Nashville for 11 years now making music. My Granddad was my biggest musical influence as he was a bluegrass musician, and I followed my love for country music to Nashville to study Music Business at Belmont University.

Besides being an artist and songwriter, I am also a producer, offering vocal and production services to people. Through these services, I was hired to sing on an English version of the Bulgarian hit, “Hello, My Friend” with Barney Esville, and it reached #15 on the Hot Disc UK country chart in June 2023 and was featured on National Bulgarian outlets as well as praised by the U.S. Embassy. This led me to my Eastern Europe tour in August 2023 where I played with an international symphony in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria on behalf of The America for Bulgaria Foundation.

In May 2024, I signed a multi-year publishing and record label deal with Synapse Publishing & Entertainment, a woman owned company. I’m also currently working with Synapse on a new documentary titled, Women Behind the Lyrics, which has led me to my current single release, “Denim”.

This year, I also published my first children’s book, Turtle Tears, which is available for purchase on my website. I also started a podcast this year, Mind Your Music Business, where I interview different people in the music industry. It is available on all podcast platforms. I believe as a creative it’s very important to always wear different hats and utilize creativeness in many different types of projects.

My favorite gig is performing for patients at hospitals as a volunteer musician for Musicians On Call. In May 2024, I was awarded the Michael Solomon Volunteer Musician Award at Musician On Call’s 25th anniversary for playing to over 19,000 hospital patients since 2015. I hope that my music will help people in some way across the world.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?

Please continue to support our art by listening to music, purchasing music, going to live shows, buying merch. I love to support small businesses and creatives should be viewed as small businesses that need support too.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)

I think NFTs are not as popular as before. People are now back to wanting something physical to hold; vinyl, artwork, even tapes. While the focus for the future is still digital, I think the blockchain will stay popular in other means, but we should consider providing our art and performances in virtual reality and even incorporating merchandise in both digital and physical means (i.e. QR codes on clothing). Instead of fearing the digital future, I think we should embrace it the best we can and get creative with it as artists.
