We recently connected with Sarah Grossman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I feel like I’ve known almost my whole life but I wanted to be in a creative field. A moment that stands out to me as a turning point is when my aunt and uncle, who are both artists, gave me a set of kids art books at around 8 years old. They were stories about famous artists like Vincent van Gogh and Mary Cassatt and at that moment I became fascinated with what it meant to be an artist.
Sarah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been making art my whole life and graduated from art school, but I knew pretty early on I didn’t want to be a working studio artist. All I knew was I wanted to be part of making the art in the city more accessible and more impactful. When the museum events job came up, now almost 14 years ago, I knew it was exact job that I wanted and needed to accomplish that. By growing the Events program at the museum over the years I’ve been able to Not only bring in more people to see the magnificent collection at Museum but also offer a platform for contemporary artists to showcase their work at our events. It has become a true passion for me.
My art and fashion blog Polychromist sort of spawned out of my love for the arts world and how I love to integrate what Im wearing into my arts expletive as well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I really want to be a resource for artists of all types and people who love art. My ultimate goal would to someday be someone looked to as an expert in arts integration into events and experiences.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The relationships I make with artist is the most rewarding piece. The artists I now count as good friends and the art lover community I’m connected with gas enriched my life in so many ways.
