We recently connected with Sarah Gallaher and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Being in healthcare for 15 years taught me two things: there are many things that take place in the healthcare world that others have no idea and also that living in the moment and doing what you love, no matter what it is, is the most important thing in life. I was always very content in my career as an Administrative Assistant for a local Community Hospital. Overtime, my job duties changed along with the customers I was serving, and soon I was planning and hosting many corporate events. As the years went on, and the events got bigger and more complicated, along with the clientele, I realized that I absolutely loved planning and executing events down to the smallest detail that hardly anyone would consider. I took pride in my work and soon started planning even more events for the hospital and even for close family and friends. At one after hours event in particular, I was standing back watching some of our customers interact and noticed that the bar placement was directly in line with setting sun, and guests were facing the sun while trying to order their beverages. 10 minutes later the bar had been relocated and the guests were able to order their beverages without staring into the sun. Something as small as that made a huge impact in our event! I began to realize that plenty of people all over the world plan and execute celebrations of many types, and do not get the opportunity to enjoy that event because they are worrying about making sure their event and all aspects of the event are perfect. That’s no way to enjoy a celebration! I began to realize that everyone should have the opportunity to work with an event planner to make their event, no matter how big or small, as memorable as it should be. I pride myself on my work and my word. When I give a client my word, I promise to follow through and also help them to think outside of the box and consider every aspect of their event, no matter how big or small! I offer a unique vision and perspective from all of my past experiences with events from corporate socials, dinners, celebrations and weddings!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Sarah Gallaher, I was born in New Orleans, and moved just North of NOLA shortly thereafter. I started in this industry in 2006, after Hurricane Katrina ravaged my beloved New Orleans. Not many venues were open after Katrina, and not many people wanted to get married in New Orleans at the time due to the devastation. I knew that I had to help and do my part to bring events, happiness and love back to the area! I was very proud to be one of the many talented events specialists working to do so!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I decided to have children, and was blessed with two magnificent boys, I knew that I needed to take a break from event planning and focus on raising my boys and being a present mom. I didn’t want to miss any football practices, band concerts, honor roll breakfasts or field trips, and I also knew that event planning would have to be put aside until my boys were older. I didn’t view this as a step back but an opportunity to move into another field (healthcare) and continue to grow as a person, business owner, and mother.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
After raising my boys and working in healthcare for 15 years, I decided that it was once again time to step back into the event planning world and begin to build my business and clientele again. I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked in healthcare and met the people that I met, and worked with the amazing clients I also worked with to plan events for healthcare purposes. It helped to grow me as an individual, a colleague, a business owner and a mother. I take all of those experiences and put them to work everyday, for every client that I have the pleasure to work with!
