We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Edelman + Devon Bullock. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah Edelman + Devon Bullock below.
Sarah Edelman + Devon Bullock, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
When Devon and I first launched NEAT Method Atlanta, we created a list of top 3 clients that would be the “dream/biggest get” client. These clients ran the gamut of who’s who in Atlanta. The top “dream/biggest get” client was both a prominent entrepreneur and celebrity in the area. We worked for four years building relationships with partners in different areas of home service. One of our partners referred us to their client. After a consultation and accepted proposal, the client signed the contract exactly 4 years to the day of us launching our business and listing the client as our number one dream client.
We feel like it is a testament to hard work, perseverance, sweat equity, and creating valuable partnerships. All of these combined helped us reach our goal!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We recognize that life gets hectic and that maintaining an organized home can become a challenge. NEAT Method loves to fuse design and functionality while creating a customized solution to your space. The organization is not only effective, but sustainable. We pride ourselves on being a full turn-key service; we organize, purchase organizational solutions, implement, and donate unwanted items and leave you living the NEAT life.
You can expect an honest, educated and insured organizer to come and assess your needs. Once the organizing begins you can rely on us to completely transform your space and leave you with a sustainable solution that you, or anyone in and out of your house, can maintain.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
When NEAT Method was looking to expand to Atlanta, both Devon and I applied to own the Atlanta franchise. NEAT corporate decided to potentially create two markets…NEAT Atlanta and NEAT Atlanta suburbs. Before Devon and I decided to purchase and run these markets, we met for lunch. During the lunch meeting, we got along great and had very similar ideas on running a business. By the end of the lunch, we were fast friends and decided to run NEAT Method Atlanta together as co-owners. Six years later, we are running a team of organizers and so excited for the possibilities of what is to come!
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When we purchased NEAT Method Atlanta, we both had other careers. I was working part time for a school system as a Student Support Team Chair and helping to qualify students for the special education program. Devon was a real estate agent selling with Atlanta Fine Homes.
In the beginning, we would work on organizing projects on our days off from our other jobs and marketing in the evenings after work. After a year of hard work, we were able to leave our day jobs and dedicate our time to running and growing our business. For the next few years, we worked on projects in conjunction with our employees, but as business grew, we hired and promoted a few employees to Team Leads. This freed up our resources to focus on selling, marketing, and scaling for growth.
Six years later, we have a team of six girls, three leads, social media coordinator, assistant, and inventory manager. We love our team and really feel like we are one family.
