We recently connected with Sarah Colesanti and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
There were a few defining moments that shaped where I was going with my life. It started early on when I started my Dance and Gymnastics career. I was always excited to move my body and try things that I saw professionals do., and I wanted to be strong and flexible! Then at 13 years old; I was to spend outside of school time with my grandparents, making sure they were up and ready for medical appointments, are taken care of, fed, and comfortable. This is also where I learned a lot about the human body and found a huge interest in the physiology and functional movement of the body. After my grandfather passed away, we moved into a bigger house so my parents, grandmother and brother and I could all live under one roof. My grandmother had cardiovascular issues and was to do physical therapy at home. I lead the PT everyday for her because it made sense, it made her feel better, and she was getting stronger. Needless to say she passed before I could graduate high school and go on to be an Exercise Physiologist, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master Teacher. Another defining moment in my career came after I received my NYS License in Massage Therapy. I realized quickly that the modalities that I am collecting on my journey, are all unique, but all aim to reach the same goal; whole body well-being. This is when I created For Your Well-Being.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an Exercise Physiologist, New York and California State Licensed Massage Therapist, 200-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher, and a Reiki Master Teacher. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Exercise Physiology from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, and an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Massage Therapy from SUNY Orange in New York. I received my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification under Yoga Alliance in 2007, and have taken continuing education courses in Athletes and Pelvic Rehabilitation (15 hours), SUP Yoga Teacher Training (40 hours), YOGA for PTSD (15 hours), Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki Healing and Traditional Thai Massage (28 hours), as well as being certified in CPR/AED and First Aid and PSUPA Flat Water 1. I am a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 2004, and was inducted into the Who’s Who Executive, Professional, and Entrepreneurial Registry in 2008 and 2009.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Client referrals and retention. For the past 17 years, most of my practice has been built on clients that regularly come in for maintenance and those clients that refer to me. I do not take clients that have not been referred from a past or current client or from a healthcare professional, such as a chiropractic or physician. I work very specifically, intuitively, and come from a whole body medical perspective. This office is not the place where people come for a “foofoo” spa treatment. I am well versed in athletic performance, treatment and recovery, as well as having tons of experience personally and professionally with all bodies, goals, intentions, injuries and have the ability to spiritually heal. This sets me apart from any one person or group, and I am very proud of that.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think how I arrived in California is my resilience story…it’s a doozy but I’ll try and keep to the point. I created FYW in 2006 in a back office of a yoga studio. I then expanded to my own office with a treatment room and a yoga space. This worked for years until I was going through my divorce. Things shifted for me a lot, both energetically and professionally. I then realized that New York perhaps wasn’t where I was supposed to begin and end…mind you, FYW was very successful, until all things pointed to the change. I gave everything up and moved to California to be closer to my brother and my nephews. I met a chiropractor that honored and trusted all of my education, licenses and certifications, and was able to rebuild FYW within a year of moving. February 2020 I acquired a space with two treatment rooms that is better than what I had in NY! I am so unbelievably proud of myself for pushing through the muck, feeling the muck, and doing what I do best; living my passions!
