We were lucky to catch up with Sarah Christine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sarah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In songwriting, performing and making music in general it takes a ton of will, tenacity, dedication to the craft, travel, a commitment to writing daily and networking your butt off. I think the biggest thing is supporting other creatives, not competing. A true message of in it together through everyone’s ups and downs is a big deal. On top of that, it takes a ton of practice, rehearsal, and a creative edge to really get ahead. It’s not about being the best, it’s about standing out and doing something you believe in regarding your writing, style, brand, image and all that pertains to making music possible on a wider scale if that’s what you’re looking for vs a local scene.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey all! My name is Sarah Christine (we’re actually going through an awesome re-branding process at the moment so that will soon change. However my “Sarah Christine” music will still be available on spotify and all things streaming. It’s not that that aspect of my music is going away but it’s certainly elevated since I’ve been splitting time in Denver and LA and am now working with a team of incredible Grammy nominated and winning members. I’m learning a ton and therefore my sound and mission has definitely enhanced. I can’t reveal much at the moment BUT…
1. The new music is releasing starting July!
2. The vibe is very pop. Think dance pop, indie pop, top 40 pop. There are 7 songs and each we consider to be strong enough to be a lead single.
3. We are currently working through a cool re-brand phase prior to release which includes all new photos, album art, release strategies, videos, creative content and the entire build up phase.
4. I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO HEAR THE EVOLUTION!
My socials will still remain active and the same (minus changing a few things in regards to bio/name). But you can still find me at @sarahchrisitnemplsmusic and www.sarahchristinempls.com for the time being and be sure to hit me up for the latest updates so we stay in touch as we grow!
5. OUR TOUR WILL BEGIN MID SUMMER! FULL BAND. We’ll be touring nation wide. Hit me up to be sure we hit a city near you! :) [email protected]
Have you ever had to pivot?
Absolutely! I was in a large corporate position for almost 13 years while juggling music. I had a life changing moment in 2015 where I was walking across a cross walk with time left in Indianapolis (walking to work) when I was hit by a truck who was turning into that street. I was severely hurt. I had a wake up call that we are never gauranteed tomorrow and I knew right then I’d begin to plan to leave my job and pursue music full time. I thankfully was brave enough (as scary as it was) to make that leap and that’s when things really started to move in the right direction!
Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. YOU CAN ALWAYS GO BACK :).
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I am fully self funded. I worked my butt off in my corporate career and saved away so that when I did leave I knew I could do it without it being “all about the money” and really dive into it creatively vs only making music for paychecks. Thankfully that has evolved to where I’m making a good living truly doing what I love and what I believe is my purpose.
Others I know have made kickstarters for help. I have not gone down that path yet but it’s an awesome option if you need some support to get going.
