We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Avery. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to educate and inspire women to live a life full of vitality, naturally!
There are so many things going against us in our environment, From the food we eat to the curated “stressed out” lifestyle we live in American culture…. it is so important to care for ourselves through nutrition, movement, and community support. These are factors that we do have a choice in!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Dr. Sarah Avery, and I am a physical therapist who specializes in women’s health across the lifespan. As a professional yoga therapist I am able to integrate the philosophy of yoga and the science of physical therapy into my patient care. I have always wanted to do things a little differently than what the mainstream physical therapy industry had to offer. I had a belief that better care could be provided, so I created In Motion Integrative Physical Therapy. Although all your physical therapy needs can be met at my clinic, I specialize in women’s health, dancer health and wellness, and yoga therapeutics.
I created and have been running an in person Osteoporosis Program limited to small groups of 6 participants per group since 2018. This program is 12-weeks, and is specifically structured to improve bone density through weight lifting and yoga all under the supervision of two specialists. This program not only improves confidence with an osteoporosis diagnosis, but offers community support, and a natural solution for bone health. An online version of the program will be launching in February 2023. We have already had dozens of women show improvements and/or maintenance in their density!
I am also the founder of Moon Cycle Seed Company, which is a product based business for natural hormone balance through seed cycling, and adaptogen latte moon milk blends. This company was created in 2019 as a way to offer women a natural method to balancing their hormones. This company brings an awareness to the rhythms of our bodies, and offers solutions by using food as medicine. The community has really grown over the past few years online and through our local farmers markets.
I truly believe that when we educate and inspire women to care for themselves wonderful things happen. When provided with opportunities to practice self care we foster happy and healthy communities that thrive!
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
My favorite books have been “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, “The Four Hour Work Week”, and “Girl, Stop Apologizing”. One of my favorite and life changing exercises has been “Self Authoring” by Jordan Peterson. This one really got me thinking about what I truly wanted for my life, and an action plan to start today. Some of the questions in this exercise are ones that I had never been asked by parents, teachers, or other authority figures. Really important questions like “where do you see yourself at the end of your life?”, and “what can you start doing today to get yourself there?” were things that I never really needed to contemplate in school or at home at a young age. I’m glad I encountered this exercise at the time I did. Lastly, I respect the message that Donald Miller delivers in “Story Brand”. When you make it about others, and say “you” more than “I”, great things happen. This is the foundation of compassion, not only in business but in your interpersonal relationships as well.

How did you build your audience on social media?
It all began with having to drop my ego, and needing to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. It’s difficult to put yourself out there and share your message. Don’t let the fear of other peoples opinions keep you from sharing that message. Looking back on that version of myself, I laugh as I realize that I no longer care what others think because I am living as my authentic self. It also helps that I have accepted help from some amazing individuals who share the same passions as me. Accepting help at one point was difficult because I felt that I needed to do everything myself. So, my best advice is to (1) speak from your heart and the right people will come along to be part of your future community and (2) accept help from those who want to give it, and pay it forward when you are able!
