We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarah Aseltine a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sarah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Touch of Jade Designs was created in 2020 during the pandemic with a simple goal: to give back through creativity. TOJ Founder, Sarah, began crafting as a side business while working full-time as an Assistant Principal in a PreK–2nd-grade elementary school. Days were spent supporting young students, and evenings were filled with crafting. Her daughter, Jade, who was just two years old at the time, loved to sit beside her mom and play with the supplies. That sweet “touch of Jade” became the inspiration behind our name.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
From the very beginning, Touch of Jade Designs has been rooted in generosity.
Sarah, the owner and lifelong crafter, wanted to find a way to give back when the pandemic hit. Combining her creativity with compassion, she decided to use her love of crafting to make a difference.
During that time, a portion of the proceeds from Touch of Jade Designs was donated to No Kid Hungry, helping provide nearly 50,000 meals for children in need.
Now, with the recent reduction in SNAP benefits, Touch of Jade Designs is once again committed to supporting this important cause — donating a percentage of monthly proceeds to No Kid Hungry to continue fighting childhood hunger.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Building My Name Around My Community
I absolutely love where I live, and connecting with my community has been such an important part of my journey. From working events at local breweries and markets to partnering with favorite coffee shops, getting my name out there and collaborating with others in the community has made all the difference.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Life is full of pivots. From navigating the larger systems and circumstances beyond our control to managing the smaller shifts within my own “hula hoop,” I’ve learned to embrace change with grace and optimism. I often draw inspiration from Mel Robbins’ “let them” philosophy and Glennon Doyle’s reminder that “you’re a goddamn cheetah.” These words ground me every time life asks me to pivot — and remind me that strength and growth often come from flexibility.
