We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarah Alysse Bobo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sarah Alysse thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
When I was little I could’ve been an awkward child. In fact, I always got you’re an only child that must be hard but it actually was fabulous. My parents encouraged me to try as many activities as possible and so I did. Every week was packed with a music lesson, drama class, sporting activity and a playdate.
They also taught me how to be extremely independent by subtly educating me about the art of negotiation. In order to get me to try new things, my father would say if you would like to watch a cartoon show, you will need to watch Star Trek with me. He would apply this with food and activities as well. I would learn how to negotiate back with him, “I’ll have broccoli if I can have popcorn later.” He truly helped me on so many levels to use my critical thinking skills.
My mom was a big fan of the arts and that exploration put me on the path to studying musical theater in college. Without me even knowing I was already studying human behavior and getting really comfortable with being creative. I’m grateful that my parents provided these outlets as it has helped tremendously in how I relate to people today. Eventually I dove head 1st into writing my own music, teaching fitness coaching, and now a business owner of Live Well Enhance You.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a Creative Stress Management Consultant whose mission is to help high achievers reduce stress & find balance so that they will be able to walk their son or daughter down the aisle.
My journey towards fitness and nutrition hasn’t always been easy. In fact, I didn’t really start to care about my health until college. Dance was always a fundamental component of my Musical theater studies at Columbia College Chicago, but I struggled with balance and core stability. Within a few Pilates sessions I was already able to reap the benefits.
After obtaining my BFA in Musical Theater, I traveled throughout Europe and rediscovered a passion for fitness. Upon my return to the United States, I took STOTT PILATES® courses and became certified. Pilates has always been a way for me to explore the mind and body connection.
My passion for stress management coaching developed when my father was diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Cancer that metastasized to his lungs then brain. During that time, I discovered that my father and I shared a lot in common: we always put others 1st, we continually love to learn new skills, and that we deal with our stress by emotionally eating. After he passed away, I decided to make major adjustments to my lifestyle and professionally. I’ve branched into the corporate market to assist employees in creating out of the box solutions and companies to develop incredible leadership events. Utilizing my BFA Musical Theater Performance background, I coach others how to be confident and understand the connection between the brain and body.
Spanning over a decade, I’ve collected an abundance of certifications from Integrative Institute of Nutrition, STOTT Pilates, to National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Additionally, I’ve been featured on WGN Living Healthy & WGN Around Town’s segment as a Stress Management Expert. Also, she has been promoted on Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, Authority, Brainz Magazine, Kivo Daily, LA Wire, The Chicago Journal, NY Wire, NY Weekly, IdeaMensch, and US Reporter. Also, I’m the host of the Stress Free SOULutions podcast.
When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me immersed in the world of theater, hiking, music, and performing at various speakeasies around the city. I utilize elements of music throughout my work and believe that if you motivate the mind the body will follow.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Communication in my ideas while also being human. What I mean by that is so often people focus in on the task at hand that they don’t think of the other person on the opposite end of the email/phone/screen. The reason why my business remains successful is that I truly care about every individual I come into connect with and want to learn about their secret sauce. It’s not always easy but showing a little humanity even in tough situations gets you farther than telling people what to do.
Have you ever had to pivot?
2020 I was planning on jumpstarting Live Well Enhance You but the pandemic stunted it at first. Thankfully, I found a coach, took some amazing PR courses, and hopped on the pivot train. I was a fully fledged fitness business; however, I wanted to reach the masses. With research and time I was able to slowly work my way into companies. I’ll never forgot the first time I reached out to an old friend I hadn’t talked to in forever and he responded right back send me your material. That was my very first contract! My #1 advice is to start with who you know and ask for business. Once you’re in the door it is much easier to get invited back or be asked to do a program for someone else.
