We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Abdow. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Everyday Eats blossomed from childhood memories of baking alongside mom. We believe that the kitchen is the heartbeat of family- a sacred space where laughter and treasured memories are made. Everyday Eats is a perfect example of mother/daughter teamwork in every sense! My personal struggle with gut health challenges and our passion for baking sparked a quest to reimagine our nostalgic recipes. We recreate our recipes to offer a taste experience with a modern day healthier twist.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Everyday Eats is classic with a twist. Our mission is to offer the taste of home in every bite with hand-baked, healthy treats, made from nutrient-rich ingredients. We are proud of the fact that our products check the boxes that consumers are looking for. Our products are always gluten free, vegan, dairy free, plant based, no artificial dyes, flavors or seed oil, FODMAP friendly, and made with organic ingredients. We share the benefits of every ingredient, empowering our customers to make informed choices. We maintain small batch production to ensure every treat meets our standards for unparalleled freshness and taste. We use carefully chosen ingredients to balance blood sugar, support hormone health and accommodate food intolerances.
Buying Everyday Eats is easy, too! We are located in many local LA based cafes and have an easy ordering process. Order through our website, and get fresh baked cookies delivered to your home or business overnight (LA) or in 1-2 days, nationwide.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Our path to success has definitely had some challenges, but we try to remind ourselves that we are still growing. Without any leads, we decided to approach cafes in person. For weeks we walked from cafe to cafe with flyers and samples greeting baristas and hoping they would put our information into the right hands. After countless rejections, we met several managers who loved our products and offered to place them on their pastry shelves. We paid close attention to customer feedback and honored their opinions. We made sure we were consistent and from here we were able to grow a loyal customer base.
In the beginning, baking in a small kitchen space was difficult and we are quickly outgrowing it and looking for commercial space. We understand that growing pains are a normal part of owning a small business. We have days when we feel the hard work is paying off and days we feel defeated. But, we always have each other to lean on. We have also met amazing people on our journey who lend advice and support. For this, we are always grateful.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
We always pay close attention to client needs and customer feedback. When a customer has a specific request, we make it happen. We take customer feedback seriously as we know this is important for growing our business. Prioritizing our customer’s needs and delivering fresh delicious products, consistently, helps us grow a loyal customer base.
