We recently connected with Sara Yagoub-Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Sara, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
While the education system has undergone minor reform, it’s in need of a major overhaul in order to stay relevant to our ever-evolving society. Many of the topics students are learning in K thru 12 are concepts that are no longer needed in the real world or in the very least they’ll be outdated when the students graduate. Also, many key concepts that students should know ex: financial literacy, critical thinking skills, creativity, intentional use of tech, stress management & mental wellness etc. are not embraced or encouraged in public school curriculum. I feel like a beneficial reform would include ditching outdated topics or at least decreasing time spent on them & incorporating more relevant concepts into curriculum. Reducing or eliminating standardized testing would also be a huge step towards progression, as students today are more unique than ever and it shouldn’t be the goal to standardize anyone. The new paradigm of education should respect that all students learn at a different pace and also have areas they innately excel in. We should encourage students in their individuation instead of requiring them to fit into a prescribed and arbitrary valuation at the state’s discretion. This would also grant teachers the freedom to teach in a way that ignites their passion which transfers to the students.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building our business reputation was mainly due to two key factors: value and consistency. From the beginning, the value we provided our clients was a major consideration. Gratitude for everyone who contacted us was integral. Whether they were just calling to inquire without purchasing our services, we treated every contact as if they were a million-dollar deal. This really helped us garner a reputation of being trustworthy and reliable. So much so that even people who didn’t need our services at the moment, referred us to others solely based on how well we treated them when they contacted us or asked questions online. We served our community, and in return our community served us. This is how we’ve been able to do millions in revenue with zero ad spend. Providing value consistently and service excellence is a lucrative and mutually beneficial marketing strategy that the majority of service-based businesses aren’t taking full advantage of.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Coming from a corporate background, I came into my business with a corporate mindset. In some ways that helped me establish great practices and automation in our business like referral programs, customer loyalty & retention strategies, proper marketing techniques, and data integration. However, as the operations manager of the business I was hustling in the same way I was in corporate. Believing I had to do things in a set way and on my own. It wasn’t until I began networking with other business owners that I was reminded that I left corporate bc of the non-stop hustle. Why would I bring that into my business? This gave me the mindset flip I needed which allowed me to play the game my way. I set boundaries which enabled me to have a better balance where my business didn’t overtake all aspects of my life. I hired a team to help alleviate some of the burdens of running a business and this really freed up my time and energy so that I could enjoy the fruits of my labor. This was a major step in moving me from solopreneur to an actual business owner. Unlearned the traits from a toxic work environment was a game changer for me and my business.
