We recently connected with Sara Starkoff Green and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I’ve been interested in health and wellness on some level, personally and professionally, for as long as I can remember. However, while pregnant with our second daughter, I was extremely active. I regularly practiced prenatal yoga, running and mindfulness and decided I wanted to pursue a natural birth with the support of my husband and mid-wife, in a hospital setting. I prepared myself as best as possible, using the mental tenacity and mindfulness that I cultivated in my wellness toolbox. It was by far the most challenging and rewarding moment in my life. I understood and celebrated the gift of health, the powerful connection between mind, body and spirit and this experience inspired me on a life-long journey to cultivate, honor and support myself and others. Giving birth naturally was such a pivotal moment for me, I developed this powerful mind-body connection that became the foundation and inspiration for my own continued personal work and the coaching, consulting and engagement work I do in the health and wellness field. It changed the trajectory of my career because I began to study the evidence-based integrative health and wellness field. I felt confident that if I could educate and inspire others to foster a mind-body connection, it would impact their physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being and that connection is the fundamental core of integrative and functional wellness.

Sara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sara Starkoff Green
Wellness Consultant: Events, Education & Engagement | Podcast Host | Labyrinth, Meditation & Breathwork Facilitator | Group Fitness Instructor
My work in the health and wellness field spans a myriad of roles including founder of Greenhouse Wellness where I curate and manage community engagement initiatives and events, develop wellness programs, and work with individuals, corporations, non-profits and other organizations to optimize and elevate the health and well-being of mind, body and spirit. In my role as as a Wellness Consultant I have been working for FAU College of Medicine/Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at FAU Medicine for the last 4+ years, focused on the development and management of a grant funded community wellness program. In some instances, contract work is short-term where I work with a client on a single event or workshop, other times I will work with a client for an extended amount of time to support gaining traction in the community and growing their patient/client base. My passion lies in inspiring and educating people about wellness practices and tools and providing motivation, resources and accountability to support optimal well-being of mind, body and spirit.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Absolutely not! There is nothing I am more passionate about than empowering people to pursue the best version of themselves, to live healthy, fulfilling, mindful and intentional lives. I love the saying, “health and wellness is complete harmony of mind, body and spirit” because I believe that on the most cellular level. I am fascinated with what science and medicine has discovered about the mind/body connection and the role of mindfulness in physical health. I am acutely aware that what looks and feels like a healthy human experience varies from individual to individual, based on so many factors. However, I believe that the common thread, the truest form of wellness, is when we create a synchronicity and awareness of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I pride myself on being authentic, professional, kind, innovative and consistent. I am incredibly fortunate to believe in my work, to walk the walk and talk the talk. I prioritize the health and well-being of myself and my family in everything from nutrition to movement to mindfulness to gratitude and I know this comes through authentically in my work. I operate with professionalism and integrity; I understand the privilege and responsibility in the work I perform and relationships I cultivate. Kindness matters, always. I am constantly taking a class, reading a book, listening to a podcast, yearning to learn more so that I can bring that knowledge and wisdom to those I work with, to stay not only current, but be cutting-edge and innovative. My performance and my word is consistent, I am organized and creative, resourceful and dedicated. Most importantly, I am committed each day to elevating myself through self-awareness; always learning, growing and evolving to be the best version of myself for my family, friends, clients and community.
