We recently connected with Sara Southerland and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
There’s honestly a different story for each of the lanes of my multipassionate business!
How I started the Queen’s Circle: my New Era Mastermind for women & femmes stepping into their purpose work and business in bigger, bolder ways.
My first big career was at a local business network, helping to promote, market & consult with hundreds of individuals on their business and purpose journeys, and facilitate a new business training program. In that time, I also started 2 soul businesses of my own! You could say the social entrepreneurial path was calling my name. I’m a creative visionary type person, but also love the intriciacies of the details. Starting a business always appealed to me.
But in this work, and early on in my own business, I found that translating our passions and purpose work into a business is a beautiful, but challenging journey. I saw a lot of coaches and industry professionals promoting one-way “magic business formulas” that didn’t resonate with how I wanted to do business.
I created the Queen’s Circle because I believe there are MANY to call in success, and the most important strategy I find, is to show up in your business from a place of clarity, intuition, and ease – so the actions you take and what you create feel aligned, authentic, and inspiring to you and your community! It’s also pretty magical to be surrounded by a group of women and femmes who GET IT, and are on the same journey with you!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a Holistic Coach, Sound Healing Practitioner and multipassionate business owner, my mission centers around empowering women & femmes step into their purpose through setting the inner foundations and creating aligned action in their health, spiritual journey & business.
I specialize in supporting women & femmes through:
* Stepping into their soul calling, purpose work and/or business with confidence, clarity, and authenticity
*Navigating life transitions and spiritual awakening with ease; reducing stress and overwhelm, and coming back home to self
*Healing relationship with food and body to start from a strong foundation inside & out
I tend to work with women and femmes who are mover/shaker make-a-splash type folks! I love getting to support someone else’s ripple effect by helping them come home to themselves and create their magic from a place of more peace, joy and alignment. It makes all the difference!
In my own journey, I walked firsthand through recovering from an ED, living through chronic pain for years, and was the queen of burnout! This all led me to open to my intuitive healing & spiritual path. I started with coaching, then practicing Reiki and later shifting into Sound Healing as well.
Sound Healing is an energetic healing modality that’s been used in cultures around the world for thousands of years. I love sound healing because it’s incredibly powerful at clearing old energy and emotions, reducing stress, and putting our systems into a deeply relaxed state. In my sound healing practice, I lead with my voice as the primary instrument and channel the sounds that want to come through in a session. I also use crystal singing bowls, chimes, bells and drums. The mix of coaching + sound & energy work is my favorite, as things can shift really quickly in this environment.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my business is to use my intuition and stay true to me.
There are SO many people who will share their best practices, business “formulas”, how to market on social media, fast track to 6 figures, etc… but what I found it really comes down to… is finding an approach and strategy that feels authentic to YOU!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Overcoming my ED was one of the hardest things I did. There’s so much guilt and shame built up around body image, food, diet culture in our society that it takes healing in layers.
The biggest thing I learned was that I was that the root cause wasn’t about food. I realized I was pretty unhappy with how much I had attached my worth to my achievements. Food was just the vehicle for comforting my disappointment with how much I had taken on in life (at the time a full time non profit manager role + a business).
Once I identified this, and started to shift my beliefs about “what a bad person I was” – I was able to make some changes. One involved getting out of a business partnership, and the other involved creating a custom system of meal planning to eat foods I loved that also fueled me well.
Now I get to help other women heal in their health journeys as well, from a holistic approach.
