Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sara Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sara Miller and I’m a self care coach for women experiencing anxiety. I began creating content about self care, anxiety, and overall mental health and self development in 2015. But, in the last year or so I’ve shifted to providing one on one coaching opportunities to support women in their own self care journeys. As someone who has struggled with generalized anxiety disorder, as well as postpartum depression and anxiety, I’ve been in my client’s shoes. I’ve had those moments where there is so much noise around you that you just want it all to stop. This looks like being in the car and the radio being too much, and the wind from the windows that are down, your mind won’t shut up about your to do list or that stupid thing you said to your boss, and it all just feels like this constant buzz of energy running through your mind and body.
When I work with my clients, I help them not only cope with this anxiety and overwhelm, but to prevent and reduce it. We do this by identifying self care that works and fits into their day-to-day lives. I help them work through barriers to making self care happen and honoring their needs.
One-on-one coaching is available in a full service package with weekly calls, as well as a Voxer only package. Additionally, I offer group coaching opportunities once or twice a year. For lower budgets, I also have a new membership launching this September. This membership will be a great place for accountability and community around your self care. It will feature daily prompts, discussion, and additional bonus content every month or so. If you’re interested in working with me, reach out on Instagram (@sarastrives) or visit my website to learn more (thesaramiller.com). I’ve also included a link to my freebie called the Own Your Self Care Starter Kit, if you’d like to get a taste of what I do! (theselfcare.life/own-your-self-care/)
Ultimately, I’m here to support women through anxiety and overwhelm and help them find rest and fulfillment in their everyday lives.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started building my audience around 2015. Those were the days of Instagram where “stories” were a new feature and it was pretty straight forward to achieve growth. I’ve learned a few key things about social media over the years of content creation and business building, as well as in my full time marketing roles. And, here they are!
1. Get clear on who you’re serving
When you’re clear on who you serve, you are able to tailor your content marketing to them. You can speak to their struggles, their wants, and their needs.
2. Show up consistently
Showing up consistently is about two things… Building trust and staying in front of your audience’s eyes. When you show up on a regular-basis to serve your audience and they know when to expect you, that builds trust. Showing up consistently is also key for visibility on social media platforms overall.
3. Provide valuable and quality content
Sometimes I see business owners either forget who they are speaking to when they are creating social media content OR they rush to create more rather than focusing on quality. Every time you create a post, put it through the lens of your ideal client or customer. Is it valuable for them? This doesn’t necessarily mean every single piece of content has to be chock full of educational information. Don’t forget, selling is serving too. But, keep in mind the client. They don’t necessarily care if you are excited… why should they be excited about what you’re sharing? Additionally, consider the quality of your visual assets. As much as it’s about progress over perfection, high quality graphics, photo, and video can go a long way.
4. Build relationships
Building relationships as a small business, especially one where you provide 1:1 services or education, is an absolute must. When you come from a place of serving your clients and having a relationships with them, you are able to serve them more effectively and retain clients long term.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
When I first started blogging about mental health, it was still fairly frowned upon to be that transparent. I started talking about my experiences in a time where there were less people sharing about it. I think my vulnerability has helped build my reputation over the years.
When clients and audiences are able to more deeply understand you, there’s a greater sense of trust. They can relate back to your story. When it comes down to it, personal services are that… deeply personal. And to build a solid reputation and establish client relationships, that requires vulnerability on your part as well.
