We were lucky to catch up with Sara Ip recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Self-worth is all you need.
A long time ago, I worked the corporate 9-5 grind, wherein I felt unfulfilled, very, very anxious and angry at the situation I found myself in – I constantly felt like I was being treated unfairly, overlooked for promotions, and forced to work in a jealous, and competitive environment.
The truth be told, I didn’t enjoy what I was doing and felt like I was missing something – let’s call this a sense of purpose.
I recognized this was causing increasing stress, and I sought out naturopathic medicine and holistic healing, where I was able to use numerous strategies to heal: high performance anxiety, fix nutrient deficiencies, and restore gut health. This conscious work, taught me how to take care of my mind and body.
With the newfound knowledge, I discovered a genuine interest in helping others heal naturally and took a risk by making the decision to leave the workplace to become a Naturopathic Doctor.
It wasn’t easy, loved ones, friends, and family members were angry, some even threatened to end our relationships, but I was determined to believe in my heart and soul’s purpose, I knew my worth.
It took many years of study, an enormous amount of of student loans and many obstacles to overcome, but it worked out!
With time, the debts were cleared, a thriving practice was established and I now help people all over the world with mental health, metabolic health and lifestyle changes.
Sara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I currently operate two separate health practices.
In my naturopathic medical practice I help clients with natural support for their health concerns using: herbal medicine, acupuncture/acupressure, counselling, supplements and nutrition.
In Unity Wellness Solutions, we help clients heal high performance anxiety, weight management, and mental health concerns naturally.
With these subtle lifestyle changes you finally clear self-sabotage, you resolve generational traumas, you move through life more easily and effortlessly and recognize when you’re getting in your own way.
One thing I’m proud of is my conditioning in terms of resolving my own problems with solution-based approaches. I’ve been consistent with getting the help needed to resolve problems by working with other practitioners. Mahatma Gandhi respectably said, be the change you wish to see in the world, and I stand by that.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Word of Mouth.
It’s important to give your best service from a place of kindness, respect and love, all while setting healthy boundaries with your clients.
Asking for honest reviews helps to build transparency in your business and this has helped build my reputation in the naturopathic medical community.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes many books!!!
I employ the lessons from these phenomenal authors who disseminate kindness, love and health with their ethical business practices.
