We were lucky to catch up with Sara Fohrenkamm recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am hoping to build a legacy of caring and creativity. Being a caregiver and an artist nearly all my life I hope that people will see my art and feel my heart in all I have done. I love painting murals and art as a way to express myself but also leave something of myself for the next generation.
Sara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Sara Fohrenkamm FRORIGINALS. I love to paint, craft, and make people happy. I got into the art industry more after m caregiving slowed. It is great to be able to be flexible to do both now. What really sets me apart from other artists in my industry is my caregiving background. I love to do art with the public. Interacting and encouraging the art out of some people can be hard but they are always so proud of the work accomplished.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effectively way I have found to grow my business is to support others and work with charities when you can.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Last winter I fell and broke all the bones in my ankle and dislocated it days after my father had past away. I had made plans months earlier to work with Make-A-Wish to do art with a child for thier charity auction. Leila (my matched child) ended up breaking her ankle too. The both of us together (with great mom help) made the painting happen. We both arrived at the charity auction in our gowns and splints. We danced and made the best of. You cannot have good times unless you have hard ones too and I think at 11 with all she has been through she knew it too.
