Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sara Figueroa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sara, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hound House Coffee began as a way to continue supporting Hound Rescue after our family adopted several rescue hounds. We realized we could combine our love for coffee with our passion for helping animals by selling premium roasted coffee beans and donating 20% of profits to Hound Rescue. I knew the challenges they faced and saw an opportunity to help make a difference. Our goal was simple: offer great coffee while supporting a cause we deeply care about.
Sara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The idea for Hound House Coffee stemmed from a convergence of two passions: a love for good coffee and a passion for animal rescue. It all started with the adoption of our first beagle from Hound Rescue, a decision that marked the beginning of our journey into fostering. As we opened our home to foster hounds, each one leaving a mark on our hearts, we realized the profound need for sustainable support within the rescue community.
After fostering numerous hounds and adopting a few more into our family, we recognized the need to expand our efforts beyond our own household. Drawing from our coffee appreciation and fueled by our unwavering dedication to Hound Rescue, the idea for Hound House Coffee was born.
The concept was simple yet powerful: to create a business that not only provided exceptional coffee but also made a tangible difference in the lives of rescue animals. By donating 20% of our profits to Hound Rescue, we aimed to address one of the primary challenges facing animal rescue organizations: financial support.
What excited me most about this endeavor was the opportunity to combine my passion for coffee with a meaningful cause. It wasn’t just about starting a business; it was about leveraging our resources to make a real impact. We believed that by offering a high-quality product with a purpose, we could not only fulfill a need in the market but also contribute to something greater than ourselves.
In essence, Hound House Coffee represents a unique approach to both business and philanthropy. It wasn’t just about solving a problem; it was about creating a sustainable solution that benefited both coffee lovers and rescue animals alike. And with every cup of coffee sold, we were reminded of the power of passion and purpose to drive positive change in the world.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
At Hound House Coffee, we understand the importance of staying connected with our clients and fostering brand loyalty, especially within our target market of dog lovers and animal rescue supporters. As a board member for Hound Rescue, I’m fortunate to have a unique opportunity to integrate Hound House Coffee with Hound Rescue events, creating synergies that benefit both endeavors.
One of the ways we keep in touch with our clients is by actively participating in Hound Rescue events, where we showcase our coffee and engage with attendees who share our passion for animal welfare. These events not only serve as opportunities to promote our brand but also to fundraise and recruit volunteers for fostering and transporting rescue hounds.
To further enhance engagement and loyalty, we recently introduced a fun initiative: monthly Hound Rescue Alumni photo contests. Dog owners who have adopted from Hound Rescue can submit photos of their furry companions for a chance to be featured on Hound House Coffee’s coffee of the month packaging. This not only encourages participation from our loyal customers but also celebrates the bond between rescue dogs and their adoptive families.
By combining our love for coffee with our commitment to animal rescue, we’re able to create meaningful connections with our clients and foster a sense of community around our brand. These initiatives not only strengthen brand loyalty but also contribute to the greater mission of supporting rescue efforts and advocating for the welfare of animals in need.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
No, we don’t manufacture our products ourselves. When we first started, we didn’t have the expertise or resources to manufacture our product, so we had to find a reliable partner who could bring our vision to life. After thorough research and deliberation, we decided to collaborate with Temecula Coffee Roasters in Southern California.
We were impressed by Temecula Coffee Roasters’ commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, as well as their support for small farmers around the world. These values aligned perfectly with ours, making them an ideal partner for our business. Additionally, their ability to dropship for us was a crucial factor in our decision-making process, as it streamlined our logistics and allowed us to focus on other aspects of our business.
Overall, choosing Temecula Coffee Roasters as our copacker has been instrumental in our journey. Their dedication to quality, sustainability, and social impact has not only helped us bring our products to market but has also reinforced our commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
