We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara Childress. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.
Sara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was leaving my safe and secure full-time hospital job to start my own business. I was starting to experience major burn out from working in the emergency department and wanted to find a different avenue within the nursing field. I started working part-time for an iV company doing mobile iV therapy and absolutely fell in love with it. It restored my love for nursing being able to connect one on one with my patients and not feel rushed to “get the job done”. It eventually led me to starting my own business, Elevate Health and Aesthetics. I was trying to juggle working at the hospital and get the business up and running at the same time. The first week I started seeing clients with my new business I found out I was pregnant. If the business had any chance of being successful, I knew I had to give it 110%. With a giant leap of faith, I quit my financially stable hospital job to fully dedicate my time and efforts to grow my new (very NOT financially stable) business. I am so thankful I took that leap of faith because now I am running a very successful business and have two amazing employees that I get to work with!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Registered Nurse and the owner of Elevate Health and Aesthetics in Greenville, TX. I graduated from Texas A&M University – Commerce with my BSN (Go Lions!) then completed a nurse residency program at Baylor University Medical Center. After about 7 years of working in the hospital setting (primarily emergency department), I decided to take my nursing career in a different direction. I am so thankful for the critical care experience I gained while working in the hospital. It has given me the knowledge and skill set to better care for my clients. I have the privilege of providing iV therapy, weight loss injections, vitamin injections, neurotoxin injections and dermal fillers to my community. It is the biggest honor to see my clients gain their confidence back and achieve their health and aesthetic dreams.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Hire a marketer! It is the best investment you can make in your business. Rachel and her team at Bee Marketing Agency have helped grow my business to levels I could not imagine possible in the short amount of time I have been operational. I loathe social media but it is such a huge part of gaining new clients and growing your business. Investing in a marketer allows you to focus your time and efforts in other areas of your business.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
1000% YES! Being a nurse is the most rewarding profession and it is so versatile. I am so thankful for the years of literal blood, sweat and tears I put in while working in the hospital. It has led me to where I am today. I wish I could put into words the amount of joy I get from seeing one of my clients gain their confidence back after losing the weight they’ve been struggling with for years. It feels like a dream come true to office out of a day spa and take care of my clients each day. 10/10 recommend!
