We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara Campbell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.
Alright, Sara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me has been repeated multiple times in many different situations.
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me (and that we can do for one another) has been sharing hope.
As a little girl, my dad was the one I went to when I needed hope. He would listen to me, encourage me, and with full confidence tell me that I could do it. I’m sure he doubted me many times, but he never showed it. He would remind me that everything was going to be okay. He fought powerfully against any negative feelings I had about myself and my future. When I was with him, I felt the courage to do just about anything.
My dad passed away when I was 21, but others have poured out this hope in my life too. My husband, mom, close friends, mentors, and even complete strangers have spoken words of encouragement that carried me through the most challenging times.
The greatest source of hope will always be the Lord. Through His Word, He has offered us the gift of hope in so many ways.
This hope has given me the ability to do everything that I have so far in my life. In the times that I’ve lost hope, my life quickly became unfruitful. I lost motivation and quickly became unhappy. Fortunately, hope can be restored just as quickly as it can leave. We can find hope on our own, but it is always much stronger when others share their hope with us. I think that if everyone believed that, we would spend our days encouraging one another and would see a great change in our world today.

Sara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a certified health and wellness coach and a board certified mental health coach. I strive for all of my patients to experience healing, growing, and hope. I take a holistic approach by looking at each person as a whole – physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. I look at their overall wellness instead of just looking at their illness, condition, or struggles.
I believe that God provides healing, comfort, peace, and has equipped us with all that we need. He has designed our bodies and minds to heal and grow with the right conditions. While our bodies aren’t capable of experiencing complete healing on this side of Heaven, we can work to make significant improvements and experience great change.
I have been on all ends of the spectrum – the professional, the caregiver, and the patient. I have faced numerous health battles personally, cared for chronically ill and terminal loved ones, and grown through the trauma that occurred through those situations. Each patient is seen through the deep empathy of someone who understands what it’s like to suffer, struggle, and fight for healing. Thriving and healing are both possible and within reach, and I will walk with you every step of the way.
I primarily work with women, teens, and children struggling with chronic illnesses, anxiety, trauma recovery, and improving general wellness.
Prior to working as a health and wellness specialist, I owned a dance studio and daycare for 8 years, worked in multiple medical settings, taught dance therapy, and studied… a lot!
My husband and I are currently fostering four beautiful children. I have reduced my one on one services for a short period to be able to give the children the time and love they need. In the meantime, I have been focusing any spare time on my Instagram account (@ItsSaraCampbell). I share encouragement, education, community, and tips. I have a waiting list for those who would like to begin one on one sessions when I fully return.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful thing in succeeding is to remember why you do what you do. It’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on numbers, goals, business, profit, marketing, etc. While those things may be important, the true goal is to help others through the work that you do. When you keep the empathy you have for your clients, the determination to see them succeed, and your dedication to help others, the rest will come. When we focus primarily on the business side, it’s easy to sway from our original goals and forget why we are even in this field to begin with. This leads to burnout, clients that don’t feel valued, and unintentionally giving off an impersonal portrayal of yourself.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Originally, I was the owner of a dance studio and daycare. I worked in the medical and mental health field off and on in addition to owning the business. I loved every aspect of my career. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit unexpectedly, I was forced to reevaluate everything. Around the same time, my health issues were becoming more severe, and I received a diagnosis that meant it was time to slow down. My body could no longer keep up with dancing and being as active as my job required. Between my health and the pandemic, I knew I had to make a major career change.
Since I had always been passionate about health and mental health, I decided to begin working towards becoming a coach. The loss of the former business was painful, and I will always miss it. However, I feel confident that I am exactly where I need to be. The excitement of starting something new was exhilarating. The challenge of learning a new field was compelling. Most of all, the joy of being able to help others made it all worth the hardships involved in such a drastic change. I was able to use my personal experience to offer hope and encouragement in combination with my education that allowed me to offer practical resources and services.
