We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara CalderA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.
Sara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
At sweat cycle house our riders success is a reflection of our success and growth. We celebrate milestones with our community and always try to find little ways to show them our appreciation by giving riders birthday shoutouts, a photo wall with all of their ride count milestones and finding little ways to celebrate them. We have the best community that cheers each other on!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Opening a cycling studio was a dream come true, born from my deep passion for cycling and my desire to help others improve their lives through movement. Cycling has always been more than just a workout for me—it’s a way to feel strong, free, and connected to myself. I wanted to create a space where others could experience the same joy and transformation.
The idea of starting a studio came from my belief in the power of movement to positively impact both physical and mental health. I wanted to build a community where people could challenge themselves, feel empowered, and leave each class feeling better than when they walked in. Whether they were beginners or experienced cyclists, my goal was to create an inclusive, motivating environment where everyone could thrive.
Opening the studio wasn’t just about sharing my love for cycling; it was about providing a space where people could find strength, overcome challenges, and ultimately improve their well-being, all while enjoying the support of a like-minded community.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
There has been so much personal growth from opening a small business. I have learned so much the last few years about myself and how I handle situations. I have learned that people will always do what’s best for themselves and THATS OKAY. As a business have to also do what’s in the best interest for itself as well. Staying true to my why has gotten me through and helped me keep the right mindset.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Finding the RIGHT people who are passionate about your brand is key to a successful outcome. I am so fortunate to have found the most amazing staff that truly care about the studio. They all go above and beyond to make the studio a safe space and encouraging place. Owning a small business has its ups and downs and when you have a team behind you that’s there for you on the hard days makes it all worth it. I am forever grateful for the incredible individuals that’s share the same passion.
