We recently connected with Sara Bost Fisher and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
After I started to get inquiries on a couple pieces I posted online I thought I could give it a go as a business. I was in the midst of a divorce and building my art in to a business to support me and my children was an amazing distraction. At that point I wanted to explore the opportunity to make it in to a business and not just a hobby.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always been creative and have always been entrepreneurial. I started painting while pregnant with my first child as I was looking for indoor activities because it was such a hot summer. I continued as I could but it was difficult to find uninterrupted time when my children were babies. Several years later, in the midst of a divorce, painting provided me an excellent outlet. I posted a couple photos of pieces I had made and had interested buyers. So at that point I thought “huh, maybe I can do something with this” and my entrepreneurial side kicked in. I thought a painting I made would make a cool wrapping paper. When clients saw the wrapping paper, one suggested it would make a great wallpaper.things kind of snowballed from there. I started making fabrics for indoor and outdoor use.. Since then I have created all kinds of things for the home. Acrylic trays, ornaments, busts, nutcrackers, acrylic puzzles, note paper, stickers and furniture.
I work a lot with interior designers to find the perfect piece for their clients spaces.
I am most proud of my perseverance and my creativity. I have pivoted my business when I have needed to. For example during quarantine, I took the fabric I had for pillows and created masks. I donated fabric to a designer from Project Runway who then made masks and gifted them to nurses. I am also proud of my Summer Art Camp for kids. I select an artist to study and we have so much fun. Once I started posting about my kids camps, adults started commenting they wanted to come. So then I created Adult Art nights.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have pivoted many times in my career. I realized not everyone has the ability to purchase an expensive piece of art so I started to create home accessories in my style at all different price points so everyone can enjoy.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love that every day is different. And every project is different. I have had so many fun opportunities and worked with some incredible people. I love working with interior designers and seeing amazing spaces. I have designed chocolates, I have painted murals. I have worked with children and adults. I have had so much fun!
