We were lucky to catch up with Sapphire Phoenix recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sapphire , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am happiest when I am doing music. I am a licensed massage therapist, chef, and substitute teacher. Helping others brings me joy, but nothing ever makes me feel as whole as music.

Sapphire , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started singing at age 5. I have an extensive choir and church background. When the pandemic hit, I took a chance coming out as a solo artist and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. My versatility allows me to be able to work with so many different creatives and reach a broader audience. I am most proud of my Debut Album “Personal” that released October 2022. I am now preparing for my first show at the Dark Room at Grandel Theatre June 23,2023 and The Diamond Hall July 7, 2023.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Right before my album dropped, I found out I had cervical cancer. I had to have a full hysterectomy. The recovery journey was 3 months. I could have given up, but soon as the doctor cleared me, I booked shows and got back in the studio. Im continuing to increase my social media presence and build my team, which now includes a full band, dancers, and a beauty professional. I am so grateful for them all.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being told I inspire others!!!!
