We were lucky to catch up with Sapna Radhakrishnan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sapna, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is to believe in me, accept me as I am, and hold space for me without trying to fix me. It happened during a moment in my life when I was overwhelmed, and instead of offering solutions, they simply listened and allowed me to be vulnerable. I felt seen and validated, which was deeply meaningful because, in that moment, I didn’t need advice—just someone to trust my process. This acceptance made me feel safe, reminding me how powerful empathy truly is. It fostered healing and deeper self-awareness.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Sapna Rad, a conscious parenting coach and NLP practitioner. Growing up in India and now based in Frisco, I’ve dedicated over eight years to helping parents navigate the challenges of raising children in a more connected and mindful way. My journey began when I struggled with traditional parenting methods and sought a new approach, learning from Dr. Shefali’s Conscious Parenting Institute and NLP techniques from Dr. Richard Bandler.
Through my coaching, I empower parents to deepen their connection with themselves and their children, focusing on reducing stress, fostering emotional intelligence, and encouraging authentic communication. My program “Parenting Alchemy” combines conscious parenting principles with practical NLP strategies to help families thrive.
What sets me apart is emphasis on connection over correction. I believe parenting is not about fixing a child but understanding, guiding, and growing with them. I work with parents to break reactive cycles, establish healthy boundaries, and nurture their child’s individuality while fostering self-awareness in both parent and child.
The biggest thing I’m proud of is witnessing transformations where parents move from frustration to joy, spending more time connecting and less time in power struggles. My goal is for parents to approach challenges with calmness and clarity, guiding their children towards a more mindful, authentic life.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that parenting is about control and perfection. Early on, I felt responsible for shaping my children into an ideal version, which created a lot of tension and anxiety. I would react when things didn’t go as planned, thinking it was my duty to fix them. Over time, through my journey in conscious parenting, I realized parenting is about connection, not control. It’s about guiding, not fixing. This shift helped me embrace their individuality and trust their unique path.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A moment that truly tested my resilience was when I transitioned from traditional parenting methods to conscious parenting. At one point, I was overwhelmed with guilt, feeling like I wasn’t doing enough or doing it right. My natural inclination was to control situations, but it wasn’t working. It was a journey of unlearning old patterns and embracing self-awareness. The turning point was recognizing that connection mattered more than control. Each setback became a chance to grow, and over time, I learned to trust both myself and my children’s process.
