We recently connected with Saniyyah Hasan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Saniyyah, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I started my travel business, it was originally something that I was just doing on the side for extra income and to get some savings on my own travel. My ideas for my business have changed since I started it two years ago.
I started off booking travel for myself, family and friends. But I knew I wanted to do something a little more meaningful with my business. So my ideas evolved into planning group trips for all to enjoy. I wanted to create a space where I could share my love for travel with others. There are so many people that have never left their home state, are scared to travel alone, not aware of the beauties our world has to offer or simply do not know how to properly plan a trip.
My mission is to bring those people together for an experience of a lifetime by creating itineraries that include cultural exploration, history, food, adventure, romance, family fun and more. Each group trip is tailored for a specific experience.
Now I am looking into planning trips to Africa to help African Americans become more educated on where we come from, the history of the West African slave trade and African culture. African Americans have been stripped of their history and I think we can all find some healing in visiting the Motherland.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a 32 year old, black woman from Los Angeles and a single mom of 2 kids. I’ve always had a love for helping people and giving guidance where needed. Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped build my reputation is staying consistent with planning trips and sharing the experiences on social media. I believe that when people actually see what you have to offer it allows them to trust that you can deliver on your promise. I believe that has been the case for me.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social media has been pretty effective for growing clientele but I believe the MOST effective would be running ads on different platforms. This can be pretty pricey at times so I’m only able to run an ad every so often. But I notice this is how I’m able to find clients from different backgrounds, different cities etc.
