Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sandrine Poogy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sandrine , appreciate you joining us today. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
Yes I signed with the Movement Talent Agency in 2023. I submitted online, because I have several friends and choreographers that are signed with them and are very happy. After the meeting I had a great connection with my now agent Jim Keith. They decided to sign me because they love my art and my personality and they believe in me
Sandrine , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sandrine Bouton, I’m known in the industry as Sandrine Poogy. I am from Martinique,
. I started my career as a professional dancer and
choreographer in Europe. I have been teaching different dance styles such as Heels, jazz funk, Kizomba, Modern Jazz, Hip-hop and Dancehall for 13 years. I am currently living in Los Angeles, where I continue my dance career. I am signed by one of the most prestigious agency in the US ” The Movement Talent Agency “.
Some of my credits are: Becky G, DDG, YG, Lil Jon, MTV, Ludmilla, Iggy Azalea, Ray J, Trevor Jackson etc…
I started training in my hometown Martinique in 2014 in Hip Hop and Dancehall with Flexx . I then moved to France and trained in Ballet, Modern Jazz and Contemporary in a professional dance school with well known teachers such as Rudy Bryans and Anne-Marie Porras. Since I moved in LA in 2017, I continue to train mostly in Heels, Jazz Funk and Hip-Hop. I am a current working dancer and choreographer.
3 things that you will learn from my classes are: musicality, sensuality, and a mix of fluidity and accents
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is that you get to tell your story all the time. You can actually use your emotions to share and make your art better. You can be vulnerable, people will connect better to what you’re trying to translate if you really open yourself and pour your heart in your art
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As an artist, you will face a lot of no. I had to learn to accept the no,and understand that most of the time in this industry it is not because of your talents but because of so many other things. I learned how to enjoy the process, and take those no with a smile because I know this job was not for me and I am getting closer to the one who is for me and to my goals
