We were lucky to catch up with Sandra Ocasio recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sandra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
I believe online entrepreneurs underestimate how important it is to have a process of bringing in new leads and how long it truly takes to nurture those leads when doing business online.
Most online service providers believe if you create a freebie and attach it to a nurturing sequence the sales should just roll in.
And while that’s a good start, it shouldn’t be your only effort to get new leads for your business.
Building a process to bring in new leads and nurturing them is a long game. Don’t stop just because you created one freebie, in fact I would say create different versions of that same freebie to see what messaging is resonating with your ideal client.
And then when you get the messaging right, now you have to move into qualifying your leads and that’s a whole other process.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My entrepreneurship journey started in 2016 after experiencing my first military move from Las Vegas, NV to a small town in the panhandle of Florida. 2 years prior to that I had met, fallen in love and married a military service member.
Talk about risking it all for love… lol
To my surprise when we arrived at our new location, all the job offers that came were setting me back a whole decade. The compensation was not even close to what the 25 year old me would even accept.
I quickly realized as a new military spouse, I was going to have to move again in a few years.
Did I really want to look for another position that I would have to eventually leave due to my husband’s military orders?
I knew I was going to have to do something different if I didn’t want to experience this kind of disruption again on our next move.
A friend of mine mentioned that I should look into becoming a virtual assistant, after all I had 12 years of corporate experience. I can leverage the skills and knowledge I have.
After a few short months of research and freelance work, I started my own Personal Online Brand Business, Sandra Ocasio, LLC.
I began by offering Virtual Assistant Support to Female Entrepreneurs Coaches. One year into that I uncovered my passion for Digital Product launches.. I revamped my focus & services and since have supported hundreds of Online Coaches with 5 & 6 Figure Digital Launches.
I now coaches in multiple 7-Figure Coaching Programs and private communities supporting hundreds of women get clear on their messaging and launch strategies that will allow them to increase their impact and income while they engage, excite, and enroll their audience.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Good question. On this entrepreneurship journey if there’s something I do often is unlearning. Especially if you have a lot of unresolved childhood trauma. Which I did and still do, and I get to work on it with the consciousness that allows me to recover from it quicker, stronger and better with the understanding of forgiveness to those things, people or events that may have hurt me in the past.
Thankful for therapy and God, I have made big progress.
But if I had to point to one that was the biggest and best thing to unlearn was my fear of rejection.
As an Online Business Owner, the whole premise of your business is to be present online consistently providing value and it can get challenging when sharing knowledge or even opinions and you get some kind of push back from people that disagree.
The fear of rejection become real for me when I internalize what others may think or say about me as my reality.
I had to unlearn that part.
I started asking myself , when people say something about me, what am I making it mean about myself?
I learned that I shouldn’t change what I think about myself because of what someone may feel about something I said online. I had to understand that most of the time, people react to things being said online because it has triggered something for them.
And that had nothing to do with me. In most cases, I was just the messenger.
And that was hard for me because I wanted to be liked by everyone but ultimately my fear of rejection was causing an inconsistency in me showing up online freely.
The more I got clear on who I am supposed to serve and how I am supposed to serve them, the easier it got to understand that I am NOT for everyone and my message will resonate with the ones that it’s meant to serve.
Everything changed when I gave myself permission to be me.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I kinda of chuckled at this question because there was been so many times that I had to pivot in my life time that my first thoughts were “we don’t have enough time for that lifetime version of that story”
As I mentioned earlier, I left a well paying corporate position to follow my husband on his military orders.
And while that pivot has truly been the most life changing pivot I have ever taken, there’s been lots of others that have been very monumental as well.
More recently , I decided to become a speaker.
Over the past 7 years I have been behind the scenes doing all the things for my clients digital launches. I have seen all the things that work and all the things that don’t work when launching and selling your digital products.
I have decided to bring it all together and share more on Package Your Existing Knowledge & Expertise Into A Digital Product, Removing a TON of guesswork and the costly trial and error wait time with my virtual online workshops and in-person events.
Like anything else, at first I was afraid of making this change from being a service provider to now teaching and coaching the thing I did for so many years, but the reward of seeing how many people can be impacted has been amazing.
