We recently connected with Sandra Mayoral and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandra, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Taking the risk of becoming a Real State Investor and a Business Owner is one of the the best decisions I have ever made in my Life. As the traditional College Grad working for a 9-5 remarkable job and completing an outstanding career taking the leap on my personal investments and creating what I already knew from School and work experience has given me the opportunity to reach heights that I would have never imagined. After my 23 year career as an accountant for the second largest school district in the world , I decided to carry on our family tradition of investing on properties and opening my own business. Focusing on Real State I have developed a portfolio that includes properties in LA,NY, Hawaii and Baja CA. Simultaneously I purchased a High end Salon Franchise where I invested $39K and by month six I grew it to $1.5 Mil. And opened my fashion designer brand LAGIRLstyle. The Lessons learned for me have been to always focus on high customer satisfaction and on the Real State side ensuring that I invest on locations that I love. My motto iin Life is Work Hard and Play Hard. I currently reside in Hawaii where I am working towards more investments and growing my designer line where I introduce theLAGIRLstyle in all different stated LA,NY, Hawaii and Baja CA. Ultimately, my goal in life is to enjoy what I do and enjoy life to the fullest.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a hispanic female raised and educated in Southern California. I currently hold a M.B.A in Pubic Administration and a BS in Business Administration. I got into investing and entrepreneurship because my husband thought that I had so much more potential to put to use and why not focus on building our own. I recall loving my life in my dream job in the business district at a high ride building in the heart of LA. I loved wearing my suits and my pumps going to lunch with my girlfriends.. I lLove Pink and mirrors and glamour. So, I have always had an eye for fashion and beauty and beautiful places. Amongst the various problems Ive solved for clients have has been helping them realize how beautiful they are and how easy it is for them to conquer the world. Both with my brand and the hair salon, I have taught woman to realize their potential and simply going out there and taking over the world. The most proud things I want clients/followers to know about me are to work hard and play hard. Never limit yourself to what you can achieve. The LAGIRLstyle can do it all. Everywhere she goes in LA,NY,Hawaii, Baja CA.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The best resilient story that I can share is that of experiencing COVID-19 while having properties with tenants and also businesses where clients were not able to come in for services and the entire city was closed for lengthy periods of time. While in CA it was mandated to close our doors and not charge rent from tenants and still have the financial responsibility of my business and rentals, I had to do a paradigm shift where I had to decide on whether to get into further debt with loans to keep the doors open or pivot into a different format of running my businesses. Where the hair salon I decided to close down, maintained my rental properties working with my tenants and switched LAGIRLstyle to e-commerce. This gave me the leverage necessary to overcome the challenges that COVID-19 bought to investor and business owners.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
On my initial investment with properties I used savings, my credit and sale of my ifirst home sold it and grew from there by re-investing into larger properties and managing them accordingly. Investing in my business there are many resources available to everyone for example SBA loans where the funding is available to payback which is based on your assets and ability to repay back. So developing a great business, growing it and repaying the loan back is key for future investments.
