We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sandra Del Cid a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Sandra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I knew I wanted to pursue a career in acting when I was five years old. I smile when I remember I would secretly practice acting in my mother’s kitchen. I would throw a cup of plastic on the floor, pretending to be drunk and I can’t recall what words I said. I’m just glad my mother never saw me. Thank heavens in real life I never touched alcohol. My first acting class I took was in college. The first TV show I worked on was in 1996, A Spanish comedy show. Currently, I find acting to be therapeutic. You can be anything in the acting world and that is the magic of acting!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am very proud of my Feature Film, Raquel’s Legacy.. I wrote it, I directed it and I played the main actress.
the purpose of this film is to bring awareness that Houston is # 1 in Sex trafficking in the country.
Teenagers are the main target and so many are not aware that this is happening in their back yards.. I always worry when I see young girls walking or running on the streets, distracted with their cells phones and not paying attention to their surroundings. It takes a few seconds for a person to disappear. It breaks my heart every time I get an Amber alert on my phone. Parent’s need to be aware of what is happening. Young people need to be aware and take precautions.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

One book I always remember is ” The Secret”, I had already read several books by Wayne Dyer back in the ninety’s and I had learned so much from Mr. Dyer, but when I found the book “The secret” it made sense. These books have taught me to be positive in life. Just like the Bible Says, ” As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal is to create films that bring positive, meaningful messages to people. Raquel’s legacy brings awareness. My other Film ” Run for your life” shows about surviving difficult situations and The Gold Digger has a unique message with a positive ending. I am currently writing the script for one who will show that Karma is real. What we give out, returns to us. If we give out love and goodness it comes back, it we give out hate and hurt others, that returns as well. My main Character is a Godly, religious and faithful woman in this new film.
