Bio
Greetings,
My name is Sandey M. Greene, and I was diagnosed with Alopecia.
What is Alopecia?
Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss from the scalp or other areas of the body. Because of this diagnosis, I am bald.
About Me
I was born in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Norman and Leola White and currently reside in Birmingham, Alabama. I am the widow of Staff Sergeant Quentin Lee Greene, who served honorably in the United States Army. I am a devoted mother of four, a proud “Glam Mom” to nine grandchildren, and a Woman of Faith. My faith has been my foundation and a source of strength, guiding me through life’s challenges and empowering me to serve others with love and compassion.
With an extensive background in the medical field—including roles as a Medical Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant—I have dedicated my life to helping others. I currently work in the Birmingham City School System, where I continue to positively impact lives.
Advocacy Work
As one of Alabama’s Legislative Liaisons for Alopecia Awareness through the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, I advocate for policy changes and collaborate with Congress, Senators, and other government officials to raise awareness about Alopecia.
In 2022, I founded Don’t Stare! Just Ask? #ALOPECIA, where I serve as President. Since then, I have organized annual Alopecia Awareness Walks:
• September 17, 2022 – Vestavia Hills, AL
• September 16, 2023 – Fultondale, AL
• August 3, 2024 – Birmingham, AL
The upcoming 4th Annual Walk is scheduled for September 20, 2025. My advocacy work, deeply rooted in my faith, has been recognized through 24 proclamations from local mayors, honoring my dedication to raising awareness about Alopecia.
Community Contributions
My faith inspires my passion for serving others. I am actively involved in civic projects, including feeding the homeless and organizing clothing drives.
After losing my 20-year-old son, Ron’Drequez Cortez White, to a drunk and drugged driver on July 23, 2009, I became an advocate for Mothers Against Drunk and Drugged Drivers (MADD). In his memory, I founded Righteousness Overpowers Negativity (R.O.N.) on September 5, 2010, a support group for families affected by impaired driving.
Radio Co-Host
I bring my passion for storytelling, advocacy, and empowerment to the airwaves as a radio co-host on:
• The Hilltop Radio Show (with DJ Shaun)
• Mz. Bawldie’z Radio Show
Accomplishments
• Proclamations: Received 24 proclamations from local mayors supporting Alopecia Awareness.
• Film: Starred in No More (August 2024), a film that portrays my journey with Alopecia.
• Modeling: Experienced model.
• Awards: Received the Perseverance Award in Atlanta, GA.
• Authorship:
• CROWNED: A memoir detailing my journey with Alopecia.
• All That Pizza: A children’s book inspired by my experience with Alopecia.
• Sorority Founder: Established Alpha Zeta Kappa Sorority (May 20, 2023), supporting women and children affected by hair loss.
A Unique Style
As a passionate advocate for self-expression and individuality, I often adorn my head with temporary tattoos, showcasing my unique style.
