We were lucky to catch up with Sana Suluki recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sana, appreciate you joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
Covid changed my business for the best and worse. I say that because it’s pros and cons to anything in life. When covid happened everybody stopped working and scared to even go around other in person contact. When covid stopped it helped a lot of people learn how to do a lot of things independently were they think they don’t need their hairstylist, nail tech, lash tech or brow tech! The cosmetology industry was one of my best decision and although people think they don’t want to spend the money they do! I learned so many different tricks and ways to add to my business. I said it was good because I was working nonstop no breaks. Always worrying about my next project and with covid I had to chill and calm down and actually invest in my family and myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My mom has been in the cosmatolgoy for 30+ years. I was never interested in doing hair or anything else ! All I wanted to do was become and actress and model. Then I started getting entertained with doing lashes and brows. When I did it people would feel so good about there selves and cherish my work. Before I started taking it serious I only would do them on. myself and I would get so many compliments. Then one day my mom had to go to an event for people in cosmetology and had gotten some information for me for the application and the process of being a lash and brow tech. After that I took off and just started doing lashes non stop until covid came and then I stopped. After that my grandma had an accident and before she had the accident she always wanted me to do her brows and lashes! so I feel like I owe it to her to keep going with my business! I love what I do and I wake up happy everyday to beautify my clients!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The best way to grow clientele is do something for free. What I mean is people like the word free, when you give a service people are more likely to come back and get the service and recommend it when it’s free. Once you build a certain amount of clientele you can start charging people the price you want to charge them the price you want! It’s more to understanding the cheat code of free than the actual word.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I funded my business because before I took the idea of wanting to be a lash and brow tech I took the bet and turned my savings into an investment in me! I was very nervous because it was my hard earned money and I didn’t know how my business would turn up! Manifesting, believing and speaking positively into yourself and your business you don’t care how much you have to invest in your self
