We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samuel Summers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with samuel below.
Samuel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission to give people the right skills, knowledge and attitude to carry and handle a fire arm. What motivated me was that I went to a class and was simply disappointed in the instructor .After the classroom portion of the class before we did the shooting course, I asked the other students and not to my surprise , They said they got nothing from the class. That’s exactly how I felt. Luckily with my military background I was already well trained on firearms. So, that day I started my path on becoming an instructor.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well I grew up Bamberg SC, Small town full of love. Raised by my father Samuel and Mother Julia which my Gun Range is named after JuJu Range which is located in Eastover SC. Played Sports all my life. Decent student . Once school was over with I left for the air force 2 weeks after Graduation. My job was Security Forces and with that I carried and shot many types of weapons. Seemed so natural to the point even as a trainee i was allowed to train other trainees. I currently have over 20 years of gun experience.
So when I got the opportunity to become an instructor I did and excelled at it. I love changing peoples lies with weapons. I get a lot of first time students or new beginners that may have some experience in shooting. I also get shooters who have been shooting a lot but have been doing it wrong a long time. So, I get to help them fix or teach them something new. What puts a smile on my face is when I i have nervous shooter that has a lot of concerns because of what they may have seen on tv or what their imagination have went wild with scary things about guns. With those things in mind I have to remember that’s their reality so I have help them overcome those fears. some f these students are victims of violent crimes so they can be easy trigger so I take that into consideration and sympathize with them.
We are family oriented. My classes area safe space for people to learn. We try not offend people with our conversations. we stay away from race, religion ,politics ,disabilities , things sexual in nature, age ,foul language etc. We have a great time while learning. we don’t alienate anyone. and EVERYONE is welcome.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have learned that everyone is different. Students and other instructors. With the instructors I have learned that they have their own program, their training was different from mine and we value different things and I had to have my own style. with the students they also aren’t the same they all learn differently .so I have to learn how to engage them differently while getting them to reach their goals.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The people . They are my biggest best investment. so I have to remember the power in social media and the power with reviews, comments etc. They advertise the most for me when they have enjoyed the class. I believe if you treat people kind and respect people it goes a long way. It’s just not and exchange of goods and services with the students. I try to build long lasting relationships. And you never know who knows who. someone is always watching so I trying to be mindful of the image and reputation I display to the public and behind closed doors.
