We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samuel Oppong. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Samuel below.
Samuel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a story that illustrates an important or relevant lesson you learned in school
I learned throughout my school life that the most significant successes come from having the freedom to fail hard. Ideas don’t come out fully formed, they only become more apparent as you work on them. You just must get started. Planning and creating more opportunities are the secret to life. Another thing I learned is the most interesting, accomplished people I know all have a vision for their lives. They seem to know what comes next like they’ve seen the future. They celebrate the little wins after completing them. On the other hand, the people I usually meet or know are the ones stuck and have that hopeless look in their eyes, like they’re just passing time in life without joy or aspiration, those people don’t have a vision. In fact, many of them don’t even have long-term goals. This was painfully true.
Samuel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an Author, Investor, Philanthropist, and Actor. As a philanthropist, I am involved with the Boys & Girls Club, Thirst Project, Make-A-Wish Foundation, RAINN, and Pencil Promise. He loves to give back whether it is doing community service or donating at events. I become an investor because I want to invest in the future of America by helping entrepreneurs to dream big, be the best versions of themselves, and help them reach their ambition. I also became an investor because entrepreneurship is what makes this country grow. I believe entrepreneurship is what makes this country produces. I choose to become an actor because I want to become a better actor, wanted to grow, connect with the audience, want to be a respected actor, enjoy the experience, and become a balance and complete actor along the way. As an author of my book “You Can Overcome Anything.” I talked about overcoming some of their own life obstacles and how “love” played an important role in their success. All those careers means a lot to me because my entire goal is to my family proud.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I was 13 years old, I got my first job outside of acting and investing by working in politics. It was a great experience but it was not for me. I decided to focus more on living life as a normal kid and going to college than trying to grow up fast. Overall this story taught me the most interesting, accomplished people I know all have a vision for their lives. They seem to know what comes next like they’ve seen the future. They celebrate the little wins after completing them. That is my goal in life, to keep becoming a better person and be a decent person.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Growing up, my entire life goal was to become a great actor and person but things changed. When I found out the news I won’t be pursuing an acting career, my life shattered. As months went by, I found a new passion in sports which is baseball and basketball and new life started. Overall, this siry taught me that they difference between great business owners and actors and good business owners. Great business owners never get tired. When great actors and business owners feel fatigue, they communicate more. They keep their focus on the task at hand and off themselves. Great Actors/Business Owners show up with the same mindset everyday and then keep it there regardless of the challenges that will present themselves each day.
