We recently connected with Samuel Muñoz and have shared our conversation below.
Samuel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I officially started at the age of 16 as an artist in the electronic music industry, from that day I decided that I would live from this, whatever the cost. Today that I’m 19 years old, I can say that I’m quite happy and satisfied with what I have harvested, I have generated profits through my hobby, I do not see it as a job, because it makes me too happy and I still cannot live from this, but I continue working non-stop every day to achieve my dream, which is to live from what I love.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For people who don’t know me, my stage name is Samdex. I’m a young DJ and music producer from Chile, focusing on Future Bounce, Bass House, Future House and sometimes Future Bass. My goal is to make people happy through my music, make them dance and enjoy, since my music is very lively and danceable, it fits perfectly to make you smile on your day and even a great festival, since being punchy people can jump and dance without being disturbed. I do my work with a lot of love and dedication, it’s what makes me happy and distinguishes me from others, since I want to establish my own musical style in the industry, I don’t want to sound generic either, I just want to see you happy thanks to what else It captivates me. Nowadays I am studying at the university, which takes up a lot of time, even so I always work on what I love, every day I dedicate time to produce, listen to music, learn and above all, act in what I want to be.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Be better every day, learn and tomorrow wake up and tell myself that I want to be different. Through that, my dream has always been and will be to live from what I love, playing at festivals or signing with a record label are goals for me. With work, effort, patience and time, all of this can be achieved.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would dare to say that they are the good comments and criticisms of the person on the other side of the screen. Good or bad, it makes me feel good, as I realize that this person is taking the time to listen to me and write me the opinion of him. Most just listen, but I really value feedback, it makes me want to improve no matter what.
