We recently connected with Samuel Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Samuel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?
Recently I have started designing clothes, and everything sounds easy to just design clothes but it is a logistical nightmare sometimes. Between copyrights and costs, it isnt that easy. I started off making a first run of my clothes and they ended up selling out in a day, which is great, however, you cant just then go all in, you have to be smart and strategic with your money.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Sammy Miller, I am currently a student at Kent State, Ohio born and raised, Cleveland till I die. I am also in the United States Army Reserve as a 12B. I got into my business by finding old hats and reselling them, and then my love for sports and sports apparel, and recently I have been designing more clothing. I also started this business to help pay off my college and that is what drives me every day for this business. I appreciate all the love and support and I can’t wait to see how much my business will grow!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have been very hectic and enthusiastic with my social media and have been trying to create a following. Some advice I would give to someone starting there social media following is be different than the other pages. Also follow pages with like-minded ideas, like my business is sports, so I follow the browns and all the pages.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
E-commerce is super important, I use eBay as a source to sell. Also, I use underused apps in this business like Snapchat, I actually sell most of my business stuff on Snapchat. Use resources that others aren’t using, and that will give you a leg up on your competition.
