Samuel, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As an Author the goal is always to impact and influence readers. However, the goal of the COTU Series is to drive change by entertaining and educating readers on the current environment crisis of our planet. The mission of the COTU Series is to have readers understand that the world needs our help to protect it.
This is meaningful to me because everything on the planet is connected. From the smallest bugs to largest mountains, each piece of this planet can impact one another. Currently, human beings are killing the planet with CO2 emissions, deforestation, over fishing, factory farming and more. We are driving our roommates of earth toward the brink of extinction, which in turn will only harm us. This mission is important to me because I love the Earth and want to protect it more than anything else.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sam Gabrielson, and I am an up and coming Author. I have always had an interest in writing since I was a kid and bringing worlds to life to help make sense of the reality I live in. I started writing the “Children of the Universe” series because the idea hit me one day on a drive to work. It hit me how scaring and throwing information at people would not inspire the change to environmental action and protection. Educating people through entertainment felt more achieveable to invoke changes in behavior.

I am most proud of the fact that readers I did not have a personal connection with have found my books to be both entertaining and inspiring. Their messages to me about changes they are making in their lives or how they see the world a little differently mean everything to me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an Author is the fact that I can create something for me and then share that with others. It allows anyone and everyone to understand me better and to connect with me. Whether that is their hope from interacting with my work or not, being able to put work into the world, means everyone that interacts with it is interacting with a piece of me.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In writing these books, I have had other life events, deaths of family members, moving across the country, and plenty of Literary Agent rejections. However, through all of that, I feel emboldened by these books. They make me feel like I have the ability to say what I want to say. Each time I am set back, whether that’s losing a family member or getting rejection message #54, I want these books to exist and I want them to be impactful, so I am brought back to seeing my goal through.
