We recently connected with Samuel Fields and have shared our conversation below.
Samuel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew I wanted to be a Comedian when I uploaded my first video. I fell in love with content creating and making people laugh. I think laughter is a great way to connect with people and share stories. I always could make people laugh so I was glad I could make a career in comedy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started content creation in 2019. I started making instagram videos and videos on twitter. During quarantine a lot of people were at home on their phones and I made more videos on TikTok. They started to go viral and I knew I was onto something I go around the country and host events like college step shows. festivals, and many social events. Im most proud of doing something that I love as a career. It’s been a blessing getting an opportunity to make people laugh.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started comedy, I thought everyone would show love and there wouldn’t be any negatives that come with it. I started to get people who seem to hate the jokes or content i was putting out. It was a bit discouraging but I knew that the hate is just what comes with the love and the love is what really matters. I learned to always stay on course and remain focused on my true purpose.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a comedian is brightening other people days. I get numerous DMs and emails from people saying how i made them smile and that my videos really help them when their feeling down. I know it may seem like just a funny joke on stage or a quick video but if even one person can smile from it, its rewarding. I love what i do and will be doing comedy for the rest of my life.
