Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samone Scurry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Samone, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Overall, I love being a business owner, but it does have it’s challenges. Because, I have serveral businesses, I may think about this more than I’d like. With my childcare business, It Takes THE Village, I find myself missing the classroom setting and co-workers. I took for granted, the value of being surrounded by like minded people daily. I also miss having a co-teacher to feed ideas off and share those silly moments. Not to mention, Early Childhood Education is a profession of patience and we are all human. Not having support during trying times is something I had to figure out and find a way to cope. Children don’t always express themselves in ways that are rational; which may result to crying, screaming, throwing objects, hitting, spitting, biting, etc. Unfortunately these situations will may you rethink your decisions. Even when I become frustrated, I stay confident in my purpose and that alone gets me through. I know I was created to teach and help families navigate through raising their children and I’m great at it!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Samone Scurry, Jack of all trades. I am a Mother, Early Childhood Educator, Entrepreneur, Actress, Designer, Model, Caterer, Loctian, Wedding Officant, and Security to name a few! I have been blessed with many skills and believe in being a service to my community with all I have been given.
First and foremost I am a Mother to my 10 year old son. Fortunately for me, he makes parenting easy. He’s an honor roll student and active in serveral extra curriculum activities. Being an active volunteer with his school programs, community 4H club, and team mom for his recreational football team are just a few ways I am sure to stay active in his life. The relationship I have with my son and the person he is becoming will always be the accomplishments I am proud of most.
Closely following, is being an Early Childhood Educator of 16 years. We often don’t realize how important and impactful the first 5 years of life are on who we become and I have help shape some amazing individuals. I have seen many types of families and one thing they all have in common is needing help! Being in the traditional classroom setting, I witnessed school be a saving grace for both parents and students. For more reasons than we like to admit, parenting and adulting can be overwhelming. During the pandemic, I paid close attention to the post and articles regarding the mental state of parents with small children, I decided to start an inhome daycare for essential workers and parents needing a break! This transition helped me to realize, I liked working with smaller groups and closely with the parents. After the pandemic, I had fulfilled my duty to my community and transitioned into homeschooling/nannyshare. I have grown to love being impactful to not just the children but their entire families. Under It Takes THE Village E.D.C LLC, I’m also a behavioral specialist, child party host/character entertainment and child hair stylist. If there is a need in anyway, I am happy to provide the service. After all, It Takes THE Village!
After the Stitch PRINTS LLC. is a custom apparel, decor and more business. I am a fashion designer and creator of all things DIY. I also create 3D props, backgrounds, cut outs, etc. I love bringing people’s visions to life and creating the once in a life time experience they dreamed of. If you can see it, i can create it. The joy I bring people during their time of celebration is rewarding in itself. After the Stitch produces an annual Fashion and Talent Showcase, to provide a platform for arts off all kind to be appreciated. I became a designer simply to create garments that matched my style and flattered my body, but it gave me opportunity to really see how important representation is. I started modeling to give young girls and women alike, an image of someone confident but flawed. Plus sized confidence is almost taboo and I want to be a voice loud enough to scream for us all.
The Potato Sack, is a fun Atlanta Twist on the loaded cheese fry. Living in Atlanta we are always at a festival or block party. Atlanta is known for our wings and yes we have the best! One day at a festival, I was craving cheese fries and wings but how was I going to walk and eat it all. Wing Fries was born! With your choice of 8 different flavors you can have your chicken and cheese fries in a delicious Sack all in one hand and just a fork in the other!!
As stated, I have many other services. My motivation is simply, see a need- fill the need. Whichever service I am provided, I can guarantee my excellence and passion every time! Be of service and God will provide. To much is given much is required!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Results!
With the Potato Sack, things are simpler. Is the food clean and delicious? Is the price reasonable? With both answers being yes, it is easy to get people to want to return. Many customers are initially attracted to the unique concept. I must be sure to stay consistent in having delicious, clean food that is reasonably priced.
With After the Stitch, things are personal for the customer. Did I bring their vision to life? Did I create what they paid for? I ensure success by checking in for approvals throughout my creative process. Also as an artist my work can be imitated but not duplicated. I am grateful my clientele appreciates my specific style. I am a walking billboard to my brand. Often something in my appearance spark a conversation about my businesses and that leaves a lasting impression.
It Takes THE Village is the reputation I am most proud of. I am known first as an Educator and my reputation proceeds me. I take pride in caring for the world’s most precious beings and it shows. My students are often, happy, well mannered, high scoring students with the confidence to conquer. My passion for infants and toddlers give parents peace of mind that is priceless. That peace of mind is shared amongst mom groups and friendship circles. Having someone around your family that you feel genuine love and your child is thriving with, also leave a long lasting impression that you want to share.
In addition to results, having positive long lasting impressions have helped build my reputation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey is a journey of resilience. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15 years old. Besides the known fertility issues, I discovered it came with unwanted facial hair and obesity, which i struggled with my entire life and now seemed to have no end. Having such could weaken ones self-esteem, and I had many moments. But, I always push through with self affirmations and encouragement from my love ones. Being in the beauty and fashion industry but outside the normal standards of beauty have many challenges and rejections. I have to actively encourage myself and stay grounded.
At the age of 23 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. After 2 years of being tested for my chronic pain, I was told I’d be in pain forever. With the emotions of being a new mom, I knew I couldn’t give up on me or my son. Everyday I push through adversity, battling my body to conquer the task of the day. I stand firm in my faith and my purpose. I have to believe God didn’t give me all this passion and skills to sit me down at 23. That was 10 years ago and I have impacted many people in my many areas of expertise. I have loved on 100s of children and guided many of families. No matter the pain, I’d like to believe I’ll always find a way for my passion and purpose!
