Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samone Goodrich. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Samone , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
It’s been said that experience is the best teacher. I could agree more; however, this becomes a challenge when planning and executing one of the most important days of a couple’s life—their wedding. I learned what I knew by experience, but I was adamant about receiving my certification. Education is essential, and I wanted to make sure invading missing anything significant. I am passionate about ensuring my couples day is the best it can be. I always think about what I could do to speed up my learning process, and if I could do it all over again, I would have been an intern under another business. The skills that I find essential were not from my knowledge as a wedding planner but from my knowledge as someone who has worked in customer service for over eight years. The biggest obstacles that stood in my way were time & finances, and that is still the case. However, I’m determined to take it step by step to learn as much as possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
With over eight years of client service, client experience is the core of everything I do. This client experience journey began in 2014 with my job at Disney World. I had the pleasure of working at Magic Kingdom, “the most magical place on earth.” My training began at Disney University. I learned that excellent communication, impeccable organization and, stress and risk management were vital to maintaining an atmosphere where the magic was always kept alive.
Magic Kingdom is the place where I learned that I loved chaos, simply because I had the tools on how to handle it. This was also where I fell in love with all things Wedding. I loved every detail, and when I wasn’t creating magic, I was finding every opportunity to witness it. I am passionate and committed to helping my couples regain their time back, focus on the parts of planning they enjoy, and spend valuable time with the ones who matter most.
I offer Wedding Coordination & Full Planning services along with design. So let me be the first to say congrats to all of the lovely couples who have recently become engaged. I would love to chat with you on how I can assist.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business was and still is an exciting journey. I began my business using the money I got from my 9 to 6. I immediately knew that doing that would only last for so long. So, my first few weddings. I didn’t make much of a profit. A lot of it was used to pay for my monthly overhead. If I could do it over again, I would have built my business credit and used that instead.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish that I had truly understood the importance of networking and getting to know others, and helping them in any way that I could. I believe that when multiple creatives work well together, magic is naturally created. This benefits everyone, including the couple we are all servicing.
