We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sammi Correa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sammi , appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?

Getting clients can be a challenging feat. When I started growing the The Silky Peach, I wanted to try to grow organically before I dipped into other marketing/advertising waters so I started getting my name out there. With my business cards and a smile, I went to many local businesses, made conversations and passed out cards. Along the way, I met so many wonderful people and I still do everyday! After a while of doing this, I still had not gotten booked by new clients. My family and friends support was appreciated immensely during this time. It was slightly discouraging looking at my schedule those few weeks. Then late one evening I saw a notification from my software. Someone new had booked! I was jumping for joy and excited for the opportunity to build a new relationship and that we did!
It is a magical moment when you find the right service provider for you and viceversa with our clients. I am so grateful for each and every one of my clients.

Absolutely! Thank you for having me. I’m delighted to introduce myself and share my journey with your readers. My name is Sammi, and I’m the proud owner of The Silky Peach, a vibrant and rejuvenating spa and wax bar serving the community of The Woodlands, TX.

With over five years of experience and a passion for beauty and wellness, I opened my spa nearly two years ago. At The Silky Peach, we provide a range of rejuvenating facials, full body waxing treatments, lash/brow enhancements, and unique signature services designed to create a blissful experience for our clients.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I’ll be honest—I’m not a social media pro, and I’m still learning what works best for The Silky Peach. Building an audience on social media has been an ongoing work-in-progress. I started by creating fun content that showcased our spa services and engaged our audience. By staying authentic, responding to comments and messages as often as possible, and collaborating with influencers and local businesses, we were able to connect with our target audience and expand our reach. We hope to continue our growth for the years to come!

For those starting to build a social media presence, my advice is to be authentic and consistent. Find your unique voice and visual style, engage with your followers genuinely, and actively participate in relevant conversations. Some tools I suggest investing in are Canva Pro and Etsy Pre-made posts. These have helped immensely in the process of social media management. I’m still learning along the way, and it’s important to have fun with it!

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

Yes! The Silky Peach started as a side hustle while I was working as a nanny, and I must say, juggling both jobs was no easy feat. Balancing the demands of nurturing children while pursuing my passion in the spa industry was a constant challenge. There were times when exhaustion set in, but my determination and unwavering love for what I was building kept me going. It was a true test of time management, perseverance, and dedication.

However, as The Silky Peach gradually grew and gained momentum, I reached a point where I knew I had to make a decision. With careful planning, support from my loved ones, and a leap of faith, I made the transition to running The Silky Peach as my full-time career. The decision was both terrifying and exhilarating, as it meant leaving my nanny job behind and fully diving into the world of The Silky Peach.

The transition wasn’t without its challenges. It required a lot of strategic decision-making, financial planning, and hard work. I had to navigate through the uncertainties of entrepreneurship, learning and adapting as I went along. But with every hurdle I faced, I discovered newfound strength and resilience.

Some key milestones on this journey include expanding our team, allowing us to serve more clients and diversify our service offerings. We also invested in marketing efforts, both online and offline, to raise awareness about The Silky Peach and attract new clients. These milestones marked significant progress and brought us closer to where we are today.

When I was finally able to fully dedicate myself to The Silky Peach, it was an incredibly rewarding moment. I could pour all my energy, creativity, and passion into creating the ultimate experience for our clients. The joy of witnessing the growth of The Silky Peach and the positive impact we made on our clients’ lives made all the hard work worthwhile.
