We recently connected with Sami Samuel and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Sami thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?

If I could go back in time, I would definitely learn better money management & follow my goals instead of being so scared and worried about what others think of me or what I’m creating. I would actually use my money to build my dream instead of frivolous spending.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am my brand. My face, look, personality. Everything about me is my brand. I’ve started modeling when I was young, I had an agency and did a few print work when I was younger, but I let my shyness take over. I started modeling again around 2014-2016 , when I was older but I became scared of posting my work and I’ve let multiple opportunities pass me by . Now that I’m older, a mother , I realize I have one life to live & I want to set an example for my daughter , to always follow your dreams and do what you want . Who cares who is watching ? If they are watching , that means I’m doing something correct. So I am tapping back in my creative side by creating content, doing my YouTube blogs, and bringing back authenticity that social media lacks .

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

My favorite book “The Prada Plan” has taught me to take my hustle and initiative to provide for myself and my family . I have to set out a plan, and timeline of when I want to complete my goals & to also have a back up plan & to have a back up plan to my back up plan.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to unlearn that not everyone is happy for you & not everyone genuinely cares for you and is rooting for you to win. I wish when I was younger , I didn’t invest myself in others , because the love, friendship and kindness was not reciprocated. Relationships are a two way street whether it is friendships , romantic relationships , relationships with family.
