We were lucky to catch up with Samarra Samone recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samarra, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Life consists of “Taking Risks”. Only the successful people in life are risk takers. I’ve learned that if there are no risks then, there is no reward, BUT I would say to NEVER take a risk without GOD. I’ve made several risky decisions in life, but before I made those decisions, I always consulted with GOD FIRST. One of those decisions was to relocate to another state at age 27. I left everything I knew to go to a foreign place with people I did not know. I was willing to take the risk because I wanted to pursue a career in music. That decision changed my entire life! It led me to meeting my now husband, it led me to becoming a business owner, it also led me to doing what I love full-time, MUSIC. God has been blessing us tremendously these last 6 years! Taking risks mean absolutely NOTHING without God. If God is in it then, It guarantees success! I’m a witness!
Another risk taking decision that I have made was my husband and I starting our business in Atlanta and just recently (2 years ago) making the decision to move our business from Atlanta to Louisiana. I did not understand it, I felt like it was risky, but now I understand that it was a decision that had to be made. We have NO regrets! God will always provide, when he says to make a move, no matter how “risky” it is!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my opinion, society could actually support more independent artists/creatives who are actually making the investments in themselves and working ten times harder than the rest to GROW their brand (whatever that may be). Not to take away from the hard working artists/creatives who are tied to a major machine, BUT they have the help to push their brand on a larger scale. The independent creatives have to work extra hard to break through the noise so that their brand can even be recognized or seen. If we invest more in smaller brands and companies, we could help alot of creatives grow.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is knowing that my art is helping others to heal in life. To know that what I am doing is helping others is the ultimate reward for me!
