Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samaria TyasiaRenae Frye . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Samaria TyasiaRenae thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I were starting over , day one , I would do these 3 things . Set boundaries, learn discipline, and cancel out the distractions. Creating content does in fact take work . It doesn’t help when you have negativity in your ear . With that it is important to not allow other people’s negative point of view to spoil what you want for yourself . Allowing people to get to me was my biggest problem first starting out . But I realized that most times people are just projecting their own insecurities onto you and that they actually admire you . As a content creator you have to know what you want and go after it despite anyone trying to hold you back . Only you and God can see your vision. Not having discipline is going to humble you. You have to put the work in and you have to be consistent. Without consistency you won’t see real results. This all ties in with the setting boundaries. Get clear on your vision . It took me some time to do these 3 things but if I had completed them when I first started I would have had a more smooth ride. However , you learn and take what you know for more progress.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a small town girl who has always loved dressing up , being creative and doing makeup…that changed when I took it to social media. I’m a 21 year old content creator right out of Olanta South Carolina . I enjoy all things beauty and helping the girls with their makeup , hair or beauty entertainment. I grew my most popular social media platform to over 60K amazing followers ( Instagram ) . On my platforms you’ll see content about girl talk , makeup tips , hair ideas , the newest must haves. Creating content is more of a safe space for me . I get to be myself and shine through authentically. I’m happy that I get to do that for others as well . I have been able to connect with so many people on so many personal levels and it’s just such a blessing . A lot of my success on social media is because of my followers and I will always say how very grateful and appreciative I am of them . My goal when I started my social media was to inspire and create a safe space for the girls . Being able to now say that I inspire other girls and women has been so surreal for me. When starting to grow your social media or become a content creator it can be a little challenging and frustrating , leading to giving up . However , I’m so very proud of myself for sticking through it and being consistent. The collaborations that I have been able to receive because of the support has been amazing . I’ve worked with brands such as Luvme, BTArt, Model Model , Lensmart and so much more ! I create content because I love to do it and I think that’s how I am able to connect with my audience. I want every girl to know that she is beautiful and strong . Whatever it is that you want to do , go for it because I had no clue of the possibilities that we’re waiting for me on the other side of the door . All of the doubt and what other people may think , let it go . I didn’t do it alone . God helped me through .
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media can be a scary thing when starting out . You have so many thoughts about what everyone will think or how no one may engage . Tossing the negativity out the window is going to be the best thing to do . When I started building my social media presence I did not take it as serious as I told myself I wanted to . I wanted the reward without doing the work . I had a very rude awakening because that’s just not how it works . I didn’t start seeing results in my efforts until I changed my mindset . I had to establish my why , why do I want to create content . Who do I want my main audience to be and what would I represent. After establishing those things it came down to posting consistently. If I didn’t post at least every single day , I was posting at least 3 times out the week because that’s just how bad I wanted it . The secret is to just be yourself and everything will fall in place . My advice to anyone starting out on social media is to just be yourself . In a world full of fakes , don’t try to be anyone else but yourself . We need your spice and authenticity. Also create quality videos , this means use your back camera in 4K setting at 60 frames per second . Now you have quality videos all from your phone camera . I heard a saying that God has to see how you handle the little things before he gives you the big things . Be grateful and proud of every single growth. Don’t stop posting . Someone sees you and trust me , you inspire them .
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think that I am a girls girl . I love to see other girls win and have success. There is room enough for all of us to succeed. With that , I think that’s what helped me build my reputation within social media . I don’t mind sharing tips or giving advice when it’s needed . Something that is very important to me is making my followers feel like VIPS. This means replying to comments and messages as if I’ve known you forever . Making sure I’m really truthfully engaging in my followers interests and content as well . Not only does this help build relationships but it creates friendships. Actually genuine relationships.I believe that because I get the girls , they get me and it just creates this sense of sisterhood. That is how my character helped me build my reputation and I pray that it continues to grow.
